I know there is a thread back in 2007 about the same subject, but I think it was executed poorly. Anyone with enough common sense and a little research will come to a general conclusion that something of great significance will either start taking shape around the dace 21 Dec 2012 or that something will culminate at that date.

There are various documentaries around on DVD and books that speak about it to great detail. This isn't some conspiracy theory bull**** like "The Jews did 9/11" , "Goldman Sachs did the economic downturn" or "Nostradamus predicted the space shuttle". There a significant amount of evidence from olden times analyzed by people who have Ph.D's in several scientific fields.

I basically want to start a discussion about what you(those who care about the subject and want to have an intelligent conversation about it) think about it and your theories on the subject. I guess if there isn't enough discussion sysops can feel free to lock the thread.

I think it is BS. My teacher was telling me that they said the world was gonna end in 97 then 02 then 04 now they say 2012. I do think it will end but not in my life time.

One of the main reasons the date of 21 Dec 2012 is the end of the world, is the basis of the Mayan calendar ends on that date. I wonder if those with the PhDs thought that maybe the Mayan calendar ended on that date because the Spainiards slaughtered the Mayans and there was noone left to continue on the calendar?

I don't believe the world is going to end but I do believe some freaky stuff is gonna happen in the days leading up to that date. I saw a documentary saying the poles are shifting and it'll be complete on tht day. This is supposed to cause an increase in natural disaters so alot of bad stuff may happen. But we aint all gonna die. Noone cane predict the true end to man kind. Only God knows when that's goin down not us

Y2K was about computers not handling the change from 1999-2000 and shutting down. It had nothing to do with the end of the world. 12/21/2012 is the end of the myan calendar as well as the others. I can't remember how many or whose they are, but there is staggering evidence that Dec. 12, 2012 is a common date for the end of civilization. This means I won't have to Christmas shop that year.

Since the poles of the earth appear due to the rotation of the earth, and if the poles switched suddenly, that would mean that the earths rotation would have to switch suddenly. Since the earth moves so fast, this would probally destroy the world. Even brembos couldn't stop this fast. So if it happens, we are kaput. And quickly. Buuuut I doubt that this will happen before some third worl country launches some nukes at 11:59 PM, on 12/11/2012

this is untrue. there is such thing as a polar reversal. there isn't much reasoning for it but it happens....

i learned about that in 8th grade. supposedly it changes every someodd years but like every other class i didnt pay that much attention to it.

I just don't understand how this could be true. How do we even know what calender they were following? Ex. Gregorian calendar vs. traditional Asian/Chinese calendar.
