05 Mustang GT vs. SRT-4 and 97 Cobra

Let me ask now that this does not turn into an argument over what should have happened. Anything can happen so just sit back and enjoy...

The new Mustang appears to be quite a nice platform, and apparently responds well to mods, as shown above.

Hmm… either the new Mustangs are great to mod, or somebody doesn’t seem to be putting their foot all the way to the floor in the Cobra and SRT-4.
In any case, the new Mustang with exhaust sounds fantastic.

I’m not trying to start a war either…

Yes indeed it does sound fantastic! I just got new exhaust on my 06.... SLP Loudmouth, sounds great! I think if I switch out the H pipe for an X pipe though it would be obnoxiously loud.

Ps... All Mustangs are great to mod, arent they?

Nice mustang vid and fair kills. I think those drivers might not have been the greatest though.

I would definitely consider getting a new Mustang if I decided to go back to a V8 car. I raced one at Atco last night.

I ran a Bassani X-pipe with high flow cats with the stock cat back on my 99GT and it sounded mean. I got so many compliments on the sound of that car.

And a hell of a lot cheaper to mod than SUbarus....I look forward to hearing how that exhaust sounds.

Out of curiousity why did you go with SLP?? I Think they are more prone to chevy products than anything. The way to go is either Bassani or Borla....And sometimes magnaflow but they kinda suck

Best set up is all bassani....It sounds sooo freaking sickening

SLP is starting to make more stuff for other then LT1 and LS1. I'm going to have to agree that Bassani makes really good stuff.

FFG - When you coming to a meet so we can hear that car.

I would have to say that I think the SLP makes great exhaust for a mustang, probably the best out there for one. I plan on getting the Loudmouth 2 someday hopefully. Anybody know where there might be a good exahust shop around for a decent price?

Bassani is great! But you gott hear the SLP on the 06!

As far as hearing mine.... I am sooo sad to report, that the mustang has entered the garage for the winter.
I would be more than happy to open the garage door for you if you really want to hear it before spring though.
I never realized how freaking slow my explorer was until I drove it for the first time this week, since having the mustang!

Something just doesn't seem right, but looks like good kills to me. Doesn't seem like the other drivers know how to drive.

How well do the new Mustangs take on mods?

The video is fishy.

The list of Mods is pretty funny for the SRT-4.
Mopar Stage 3 (and then Some), exhaust, intake, greedy boost controller, 50 trim 63AR, Exhaust Side?? And then pulling on a Stage 3R SRT-4 like that.

The new mustang is very impressive. It builds alot of power w/ little mods. If they are tuned right, a bolt on GT will go low 12's....

Just some FYI - A 100% BONE stock 05 Gt w/ a Saleen Supercharger (roots blower) @ 5.5psi makes 430rwhp and 390rwtq

Cool.

How much power does a stock ’97 Cobra put down anyway? Just curious.

They are rated 305/300 from the factory at the crank, its a good motor,
281ci DOHC 32V

w/ full exhaust and intake it should make around 285rwhp

Wow, 430 with just bolting on a blower! What about timing or tuning? Fuel? Anything???

How much does the new mustang weigh?

I think the trick is the stock Mustangs might be putting out a little more power than the factory is claiming.

Yeah I think a stock one dynoed around 280hp at the rear wheels. I don't see how I/H/E is going to get one into the 11s. 12s yeah but 11s I don't see it. That would take close to 400+ hp.
