Job
Ok so Last Friday I went for an interview at Lawrence Toyota as a Express Lube Tech, Anyhow I was talking to the assistant manager and he was asking me all kinds of questions and asking if i had experience in the field. I said Yes i went to vocational school for Automotive Services he goes ok, well basically that wouldn't be enough to hire you at this time because they only give you the basic's over there, so he say's ill tell you what ill do, he proceeds to tell me that he is gonna hire someone in that position in a month or so, then ill give you a call and ill have you train under him so I am like alright cool he said if i dont call you in a month feel free to call me. So in the meantime I am like i gotta find something to do I dont have a month to spare without a job, So this past saturday I went to Applebees Just for ****'s and giggles I applied and almost got hired but i failed the Personality Test, My question has anyone ever taken one of these before I dont really understand them, they make the questions very tricky It seems like if you answer No, the answer is really Yes in some case's I am going to try other place's but If i have to take another one of those test i want to make sure I pass besides they wanted me to complete it in 30 mins and its 150 questions, Its really annoying Just sitting home, I really wish i didnt have to go through this all because I was layed off from my Previous Job as a Detailer making some pretty decent money.

Dude those personality tests are really what they are suppose to be. They are basically more to see if you have common sense from the few I have taken. I pretty much lie my way through them the entire time. You just have to tell them what they want to hear. And if you don't know what they want to hear then maybe the job isn't right for you.

Haha, I'm not saying that. I was just saying those tests are pretty much just to see if you can answer questions correctly, know the right thing to do in a situation, if you are proud of being a thief, have common sense, and if you are crazy.

Answer how you think they want you to.
If you saw a fellow associate steal, would you report them? YES If someone said, I will give you half the difference if you forget to ring me up for this, would you? NO If you see a friend stick something in his pocket, would you report him? YES IN a group, are you outgoing or shy? OUTGOING, you will be dealing with people afterall. Are you more likely to lead or follow? LEADER Would you rather work on one problem or can you handle multiple? Multiple, you will have a few tables at once. Think how the questions relate tot he job and answer that way, not how you think you actually would handle the situation.

Also, don't tell them you are looking for a job to last a total of 1 month, 4 weeks, or whatnot. Bad, Bad idea.

I have a Bachelor's in Business Management and I know exactly what you're talking about. Typically those personality tests are very tricky, and they are meant to be.
They ask you several questions, some of which should result in the same answer. They might ask you the same question 3 different ways to see if your answers are consistent. If you give 2 or 3 different answers to what is basically the same question, that is what they are looking for. Also, some of the questions are simply ethics related, and actual personality indicators. You would be working directly with people in this job. They want to make sure you're not an asshole, and that if perhaps a customer drops a wallet, you're not going to keep it. lol

They call those tests the "Do You Love Your Mother" test. If you answer the questions like your mom is standing next to you, you will pass (pretty much).
