Kickin it ol' school, bobbers, rat rods

NOt sure if anyone else here is into Old school choppers, Bobbers, Cafe' racers but those who are post those pics you've come across and saved online. Remember

Old school styled Bobbers, rat rods, N'old school, and bar hoppers (cars or bikes)
Heres some of my favs.

I love brown

This bikes by NASH motorcycles in WA. just needs a sprung seat

This bike just needs less chrome to be perfect

Not very ratty or "old school" but pimp

Another NASH bike.. love the strut seat post

I love the style, and thats what it is anymore... I get annoyed when people get annoyed with the style because it was done out of necessity in the past....you know... 50 years ago...

I saw a few trucks around the area in the past week around the age of my truck that were "rat rod"... and I guess my truck would classify as such... more so out of necessity than planned though. It really is tempting to throw on some red rims and white walls though ;)

Either way, keep the style alive. There is beauty in simplicity.

Prob. one of the few things I agree with you on on this site

From what I understand the style came about by guys just throwing sh** together to create a ride. I dontthink it was "cool" back then but now it has become a style that I love (within reason). As you can tell from the pics I posted I like them a bit cleaner. I call it N'old school (new/old school).

I do think you should slam that C10, red wheels, and thick white walls. And i think you should do the short bed conversion (non-step side).. Ive been waiting for you to start modding that truck.

Truck is pretty low... has less clearance than my car thanks to the front suspension bits... control arms me thinks >_>

I love the step-side, those aren't going anywhere. I've got a website project coming up that is going to put some money in my account, as well as my little savings plan that I've started on. Once that site gets done I'm putting my order in for the disc brake conversion parts, unless I can find a decent cummins for under 2k.

But yeah, the original "style" came around out of necessity. Performance parts weren't being built back then, so people had to make-do. using parts from other cars that worked better, or modifying/building their own parts.

Now we get a kind of retro-rat rod. The style is there, but we're also concerned with drivability and reliability so we're using better made parts and breaking out a can of black spray primer and buying some cheap "classic" knock off wheels. I priced some up over at coker and the rims I want are $68 for 15x8 and $68 for 15x10 primered. Course... the tires are damn near $200 a piece... hopefully they clear the disc brakes... i don't think they will, but i have to email someone about that.

http://store.coker.com/prod/smoothie-wheel.html

and the rear tires...
