Ever just get sick of driving older cars and wanna just go buy something new(er)?

I love my car, but man I just get sick of the bull**** all the time. Little things bug the piss out of me. One thing I hate is that my windows go up really really slowly, and they for some reason when I close the door they get stuck on the outer edge of the roof and try to break themselves off. And the fact that there is just ALWAYS something rattling, and its an uncomfortable ride. Sometimes I just wanna say eff it, keep it as a project, and buy a newer car to drive on a daily basis. (maybe something modable?) Anyone else ever have this problem? grr. I hate driving past dealerships and being like "oh man that is NICE! I'd rather have that then my car."

Not really, even when my 240 was my daily. I really ****in miss driving it everyday. I didnt mind the harsh ride and the rattles. The no a/c thing sucked in traffic but I got used to it. When I heard an interior rattle or squeak id just turn the music up lol. If your suspension is too stiff then adjust your suspension.

If your going to get something as a daily then I highly recommend not getting something you want to mod. Buy a cheap daily, save your money, or invest it into something worthwhile.

Wow, hate to do the cliche bust on Clean but DANG, I've never seen more wrong opinions come from one person. (<---yes opinions CAN be wrong case in point.)

Everyone can appreciate a car that doesn't look like much until you look under it or in the engine bay, or see it doing its thing. Rat rods are one of my most favorite class of cars as I'm sure others will agree.

Dan I hear you though. It's the reason I've been trying to sell my S14, its also the reason I havnt sold it. I keep finding reasons to keep it. I realized the solution is to get something comfy to drive everyday. But the problem with that is I want something just as fun and unique to drive everyday (even more so than my stock S14). This is the reason Im looking to get into another car I used to own for a DD) a little luxery mixed with performance and alot of unique charactoristics.

For the most part, newer cars lack the soul older cars have. As was said before I hate all the new gadgets that seperate you from the road and the car. The newer cars I would buy I cant afford. But honestly if I had the money most of my cars would be older than 97. Too many great cars that you can modify to make your own.

Rat rods have a specific style, this **** is just disgusting.

Guys come to meets in cars in that shape, or have mismatched paint, huge gaps everywhere, mismatched wheels, and then open their hoods for respect are tools IMO.

what makes someone a tool for not having enough money for a blingtastic paint job? when you dont have limitless amounts of money sometimes you have to choose between go fast stuff or exterior stuff, theres nothing wrong with either one...

my car looks like a pile of ****, i put all my money into engine work because my shell is so rusty its not worth the time to try to fix it up, i guess im a tool

Let me know when your car splits in half and/or your body panels start to fall off.

Wanting to make a car go faster no matter what it looks like isnt being imature. Putting others down for their cars and what they choose to do to them kinda is. Of course its hard to look at some of the cars that show up to meets but if they are doing work and mod'ing their cars it does make sence for them to be at a tristate TUNERS meet and it makes MUCH more interesting conversation then "yeah its stock, but i have leather". Remember!!!!! this is supposed to be a TUNER site for the tri state. Not a I have a car lets be friends site.

240sxdann - I say keep working on the 240.. you can do leather, get nice solid comfortable suspension, new paint (if needed) and make it alot better then any new car out there IMO. Go for that Lux / performance style (not VIP really ) but make the car the way it should of been from the factory.

Or if you can afford getting a nice daily driver and build something on the side that would be the way to go (prob. what Ill end up doing when i can).

When I bought my acar, I actually down graded a year (1995) and went to manual windows and door locks. I am going to continue to go to school for two years, and work during the summer. Then once I graduate, I am going to save my money and buy something nice.

Every day. No A/C, manual windows, manual locks, ****ty motor that dumps out and has no power after 20 mins of driving. The rattles in everything, the beat up bench seat, bare bones interior. I could go on for days about it older cars.

But hopefully in 6 months or around Mid Feb I might be able to buy a brand new 09 car then. So I'll hold off and see what happens. Until then its the piece and me every day.

Yeah I hear ya, i'm on the same page as you. I have a 1995 Ranger w/ a boat load of miles, don't know how much, ****ty green interior, even ****tier green exterior, same as the inside, crappy manual windows, crappy manual door locks. Overall I am going to continue my education, start working as an apprentice plumber, and just continue to become a master plumber, open my own buisness and buy a decent truck.

I always flip flop around on what I want to do. lol. I love 240's, but I just kinda wish I could keep it as a project car/weekend thrasher more so then a daily driver. Over the past year or so, I've flipped flopped between 2 newer cars that I'd love to own. One, completely impractical in every aspect, the other much more practical but I still dont know. lol. Theres so many different routes I could take, just dont know what to do yet. I kind of feel like I want to "grow up" so to speak like cleanneon said (I'm agreeing with cleanneon?! ) idk.

The other reason is that I want to keep my truck a DD for now until I officially to move MD. The only reason I am considering this is because you only need to get your car inspected once, and when that is done, the modding will officially begin. 302 FTW.

your a fag. lets race

seriously though. growing up does NOT mean you have to buy a newer car. its just preference. if thats what you think, than congrats. give yourself a pat on the back for being all grown up

edit: come to think of it, my opinion is that its a bit childish to drive around worrying about what people think of you and your coolio ride. im honestly not really worried about 'being seen' looking like anything. who are you really trying to impress with a miata anyway?

haha, its more than that for me, its the whole package. newer cars generally ride better, have more advanced technology, etc. Thats why I prefer them, at least for DD applications. Id much rather have my old 01 civic than a 95 just because interior quality, exterior, ride, sound, everything was just much nicer.

are you implying that 240s looks like a$$ ?

from personal experience when it comes to 240s its love hate relationship. i love to drive it i hate to work on it after i drive it. i do have a dd and its somewhat fast (not as fast or fun) but when it comes to driver feeing 240 gives me a chubby every time. i've yet to find another car that gets my hart going when take a turn and hit the gas. the sensation of neutral steer, high grip, hi speed is addicting.
