Saw you cruising in the northeast around Knights and Woodhaven; Car was in amazing shape and sounded rediculous. Took off to pick a fight with a Vett that kept cutting you out right around Street Rd.

Anybody?

how do they drive compared to a regular vr4?

I have had many VR-4's but mainly the rare ones like the 98's and a few older ones. I can say that the 98 Vr4 will outperform the spyder anyday of the week. The spyder felt heavy and slow. I think alot of it was I left it completely stock and original because it was a collector car, the 98 VR4 I did the bpu upgrades and it ran high 12's consistently. I would be suprised if the spyders would even run high 13's stock. When you factor in the extra weight it is silly to mod them since that getrag tranny breaks on the lighter VR4's when they are stock. I would never buy another spyder again, it is a huge expense when the top stops working on those cars. From what I was told by mitsu, there are only a few trained mechanics on the east coast that can work on that top because it had so many parts controlling it. It did look cool with the top down though. With the top up and windows up, there was tons of wind noise from the top not sealing up very well. IMO I would stay away from those cars.

well you confirmed every suspicion about the spyders. i bone stock vr4 is slow enough, i cant imagine how bad it must be with an extra 500 lbs on its back.

why did you get rid of your 98? also what older ones did you have?

Theres one in auto trader right now for 35k or around that lol. I always wanted one but the price is nuts.

they are slow stock but rock for winter cars. the awd system is awsome for snow

I took the this guy often. He lives around the corner from my job in conshohocken. He has a sick 1st gen too. We raced on 476 before.
