wtf can they do this? ( insurance question )

okay i'll admit off the bat i drove like i was crazy when i first got my license, most of my tickets are off of my record now ( over 3 years since i'm 22 now ) and i've been driving responsibly ever since my big accident. i've gotten 1 ticket in the last year and it was a no points violation for disregaurding a traffic control device. i still have 1 speeding and 1 at fault accident that are affecting my insurance rates, right now i'm paying $239 a month.

okay now that's out of the way; i use safe auto and almost ALWAYS get the damn bill either on the due date or the day before it's due. it never comes on the same day my last 6 month cycle just ended and this was my first month of the new cycle, i got my bill and it's for $926 ( my full 6 month premium ) so i called and the lady explained that i sent 2 of my previous cycles bills late and i was a high risk so they're demanding full payment from now on

what the christ? can they do that? i have had to make over the phone payments twice because once my bill never came and another time i got it almost a week after it was due!

btw that $926 for 6 months is JUST LIABILITY freaking drive responsibly kids you don't even want to know what i have to pay for full coverage. thank god i grew up and am almost free and clear on my driving record

coming form another tiburon owner... I found a trick to making your policy go down....

Im not joking...

Add another POS to your policy and claim that you drive it in the winter.... EVEN if you do not and it just sits in the driveway... anyway... this made my insurance go down over $400 for insuring another car... didnt make sense to me at 1st but if you think about it... you would be driving your tib less frequently which makes your risk go down on that tib... which equals saving... may want to look into it.

Eerie Insurance dropped me after my 2nd accident. I was paying ~$1600 a year for full coverage on my parents policy and my 1st accident was basically forgiven. They dropped me and said in 3 years they will cover me again if I have no more records... but it would be like $3k for just liability...

I had to sign a paper saying that I would not drive my parents vehicles and if I did, any damages would not be covered.

Im working on getting my 240 on the road but just found that the fender support or whatever is cracked on the outside and top and split apart... once the car is ready for the road Im going to find a company that will cover me.

I got an estimate for Progressive and it was something like $2,700 for liability only... Im screwed LOL.

unfortunately yea they can, my moms a financial advisor and i just gave her a call. she said since your driving record still shows a little bit of problems then if they want they can ask for the full premium so it almost forces you to stay away from accidents. they can even kick you off of their insurance if they wanted to. she recommended either calling them and seeing if you can talk to them about changing it back to monthly because you can't afford it or changing insurance companies. I've got High Point but ive heard progressive (done all online so no waiting for the bill) is pretty good for our generation. hope this helps and i hope everything goes well for you.

GMAC was AWESOME i had it right after getting my license back ( was suspended for wreckless driving and exhibition of speed when i was younger ) i got it through a broker in washington and paid like $130 a month for full coverage, but they wouldn't cover me in PA so i had to look elsewere, started getting qoutes and they were like 250+ for liability only

State Farm is what I have now. While their service is awesome, they have on SEVERAL occasions tried to dick me over. Then again it doesn't help that my mom went in to insurance agents office and asked "if" I lost my license, what would happen. Well after that, for SOME reason they've been hiking my policy for stupid ****. I can't imagine why........

Dude, call AAA. They have amazing rates. I pay 1100 for the year, full coverage on my Evo. I have an accident on my record, it is not an at fault but it is not the other persons either, kind of a mutual fault also have a few no point tickets. If you have AAA roadside assistance they give you a nice discount as well as good discounts for all sorts of safety features for your car and if you have taken a driving class or if you are s student. Seriously check it out. They work with you on payment options, always have the bill to your hose 2 weeks ahead of time and have an internet pay option that costs nothing and you can even use bank routing numbers so you don't need a credit card.

So they made you pay your full 6 months due to late payments?

If so that's on you, technically they don't have to send anything for when your payments due. Either setup a online bill pay or mark it on a calendar.

You guys have it good. Try a commercial policy sometime. I have taken several safe driving courses and clocked well over 1 million problem free miles. However since I carry a $10,000,000 umbrella policy to cover my a$$ when I kill the next person that cuts me off..... I pay $$$$$$$$.
