2004 WRX SPT Turbo Heat Shield Install w/ Pics

As you know SPT has recently come out w/ a new turbo heat shield, which is supposedly on only for 04+ sti and 06+ wrxs but I have it installed on my 2004 WRX. Well it fits on the 04/05 wrx as well. It fits in the spare hole used for the STI intercooler.

The only thing you need for the install is a M8-1.25 x20mm hex flanged cap screw. They come in a 4 pack from Autozone. Below is a pic of the bolt and the container. The pack does say that it is a 12mm head but it is actually a 13mm.

In the first pic you can see where the heatshield mounts as compared to hole for the stock i/c.

Install was a piece of cake. All you do is remove the intercooler and then install the h/s on the spare hole, then reinstalling the i/c.

I trimmed mine and still had problems. You can also run this over the stock one as well IIRC.

Ben - I have a def difference in soak compared to running w/o a h/s at all. The i/c is cool to the touch now. Ill let you know on the way home from work how hot the i/c

I just got home and the i/c was cold to the touch and I was cuising at 3k the whole way home. It def does its job and was well worth it.

It will fit with any aftermarket tmic, because it mounts to the outter hole on the bracket. As long as you retain the bracket it will fit
