90 HP FTW! If you are going to do that much driving it might be worth it, who cares if people call it a chick car, you can laugh at them when you are only filling up once every 2 weeks lol. Also pulling hard in first is always fun when you leave a nice black cload of smoke behind ya. for that much driving id say go for it, my dad has an 02 tdi golf and it has like 105K on it.

Go for it. I don't think the compression is all that high, like 16:1 so you can boost it a bit, and that thing should run its a$$ off. Dump some grease in the tank and run it.

A VW TDI motor will have more potential than any VW 2.0 motor.

You are very right about that, i know i cant pull much out of my 2.0, but chip tuning my dad's tdi would bring the torque up to around 195ft/lbs.

There's a Passat TDI wagon running around the northeast with ~800ft/lbs.

time to chime in here... since I own one....

if you are looking for a fun daily driver than a tdi is a good car. I drive one. BTW, it's 90WHP not BHP. They are detuned for the US. Just a chip can get you 25HP easy. TDi is not a chicks car. majority of people who drive them are guys and diesel/torque heads. a fully modded TDI can get 200 WHP and 400TQ. plus you can't beat $26 for inspection and emissions exempt. Who needs a CAT and EGR anyway HeeHee

chipping www.rocketchip.com
fueling/turbo/FMIC www.kermatdi.com

TDIs www.tdiclub.com

this might help ya. It's a VW lupo 1.9 TDI(german matchbox) but still

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkBul5IhMOQ

the new TDIs coming out in 2008 are 140HP common rail injection and get fuel mpg like the sticker above.

my dad was lookin at the v10 tourag tdi, 300 some hp, 550 torque, its like a diesel truck but less weight.

yeah i think id do a chip and injectors eventually, and i found a place in center city that sells B20 (20 percent soy 80 percent diesel)

i was thinkin about payin it off in 3 years then gettin a s4 or something but i think that new tdi sounds bad ass.

i think the compression ratio is 19:1 but i dunno?
