Why dont people understand hoodscoops?

Hmmm, So its not cool to have a fully fuctional hoodscoop overtop an intercooler with say i dunno 1 total foot of piping? I see so for an average turbo car, cutting your bumper, adding 8 or more feet of piping lowering your spool up and throwing on a much heavier hood is a great way to get rid of that silly scoop. Silly subaru ricers! what am I thinking!? Get a clue kids. It wouldnt be there if it didnt serve a purpose.

Idiots at work with riced out fords. Appearantly mine is rice because its got a "rice" catcher. I laughed. I did happen to notice it again in another thread though. Just curious to what peoples thoughts are on it. I personally will not only keep my scoop on but I will keep my stock scoop on.

Front mounts can be bigger, have better cooling capacity, and are less effected by heat soak.

But I agree, for a stock turbo and only 300hp the added cooling capacity isn't even worth the money to install the FMIC. You really should aproach the capacity of your top mount before it's worth switching.

On the other hand... losing that retarted snout might just make an FMIC worth it.

If the cars came with front mounts people would be moving them to tops!

they are functional for cooling, the inlets are at the back of the hood, you may want to look at them again.

I think the hood scoop looks very rice, and if it was the best way to do it I think there would be a lot more cars with them. I think you guys also over estimate the benefit of "only 1 foot of piping."

The SRT4 hood can also be easily modified to feed the airbox. A 3" diameter hole saw and a foam ring.
