im gonna go ahead right now... that is NOT the 323 engine... its a K series engine out of the probes/mx6s/mx3's ... as a former owner i know the possibilities... they are small v6's with the capabilities to rev high ... my mx6 could rev to almost 8 grand... with a 2.5l v6... they are probably running a KLZE ... which is a japanese engine out of a eunos sedan... they are rated at 197 chp... so getting 208 all motor out of one of those isnt out of the question with good cams and good tuning... most likely they were using megasquirt of some sort because no one has been able to hack into the mazda ecu's from those cars... my mx6 ... if i didnt wreck it... wouldve made 200 whp all motor with standalone... but that never happened...

any other questions... im 99% sure i can answer them. i owned these cars and was immersed in the community for about 5 years

oh and i highly doubt that thing is revving to 10,000 rpms... maybe 8500 or something... unless its a built and balanced motor it wouldnt rev that high... the jdm engines ran 190 cams with a 10.2:1 compression ratio so they made all the power up top.

Um I can make my car rev out to 14,000 rpm by simply switching tach output to "Half speed".

Its not 10,000 rpm. Notice that when they show the tachometer the car is audibly around 2500rpm, yet the tach shows just over 4k. Get it yet?

lol i dunno about you... but theres no way in hell i trust that tach to be accurate... did you take a look at the dyno shop? ... he was trying to race on the damn dyno... either way the car would only run like 12's ... he'd never get traction

being able to rev that high doesnt necessarily mean its gonna make power that high. hell, ive seen a honda rev out to 11k when its peak hp was at 8500

Yeah, the sound that engine makes is certainly not that of one revving over 9000rpm.

remember now, this is a v6. a tiiiny tiiiny v6. its not nessesarily going to sound like any other high winder you've ever heard. anyone who has rode in my nsx can tell you that at redline (8k) its so quiet you could talk normally. from the part of the vid where they show the tach you can clearly see the speed at which its winding up and he stays in it quite a bit longer than it would take for 5-6 k.

I hope he has some short-ass gears. 200hp @ 9,000rpm isn't the most streetable setup around.

Still cool that they put the v6 in there, I would love to do this to my dads protege but he love his gas mileage. One day when he buys a new car one day.
