"best" is pretty much relevant to the person ordering it. I could tell you the best external HD is something from WD and someone might disagree and say Seagate.

I don't know what expansion slots the mac has on it so I can't answer that.

As for external HDs, if you have the 17inch model, GET a drive that supports FireWire which most do. If you have the 15inch model, usb 2.0 will work just fine and looks to be faster anyway.

+1 Its all personal preference...although WD and Seagate are pretty much the best. I have a 400gb Seagate - I love it.

....Why would you buy a mac? Did those commercials with the personified Mac and PC lead you to the dark side?

I think Elgato is your only option for TV tuners.

Number 1: Makes actually can get viruses. This is a myth. The thing is that there are more viruses for PCs than Macs becuase criminals who write a virus would rather make it for the PC than for the Mac b/c more people own PCs (a virus written for the PC would inflict more damage). Macs can still get viruses. And as long as you aren't stupid, have a good anti-virus program, and a good anti-spyware program, you won't get any viruses.

Number 2: Macs are horribly unreliable. And, it seems like Apple refuses to admit it has glitch when one arrises. Where Microsoft is quick to release pacthes for its operating system when glitches arise, Apple is slow.

Number 3: Every single program out there is most likely written for the PC. You wanna play a new game on a Mac, sorry, you'll have to wait another 3 months for the Mac version to come out.

Hug your PC. Make love to your Windows. Because once people with PC processors discover OSX, Windows is disappearing. Who would possibly use such a piece of **** operating system when you could have OSX?

yeah you really shouldn't say that.
I turn off my laptop maybe once a month and have no issues.

I also manage dozens of servers where the windows 2003 server has been running for months at a time.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ok i'm sorry, but that is totally wrong. Microsoft waits till there are a large amount of problems and then release a huge service pack or wait till 4-5 come up and then release fixes. At times it's weeks before you see any sort of fix from them. Apple releases patches 1-2 days after an issue and at times before the issue is even publicly known.

As far as games are concerned, if someone really wants to play games on their mac they can set up bootcamp and put Windows on it to play. Though a larger amount of games do exist for apple than before and should become more common now that Intel is the processor supplier for Apple.

i fix macs for a living and i can easily say generic pc's are far superior in reliability(aside from a few low end models from certain brands)

windows is far superior with memory management than osx

osx is currently more secure but IS susceptible to problems like rootkits.. and moreso since the majority of mac users assume they dont have to worry about security.

osx looks prettier. so i guess that appeals to a certain crowd.

playing games using bootcamp? good idea, except that no macs that run windows have upgradable graphics cards, and little in the way of upgrades for other components.

I definitely agree, windows manages memory far better. I agree, that apple has an image of being more secure but even still I run symantec AV and hardware firewall on it.

No, no intel macs have upgradeable video cards but the cards that come in the macbook pro's arent to shabby. If you're playing crazy highend graphics it would be an issue, but for average games you should have no problems.

I own both, and I use each for their own purpose. So i'm pretty unbiased. Both have their merits. I mainly use my Apple for recording my sets from my tables and then editing so it'd be presentable for a cd.

OSX is unixed based, and you can crack any unix/linux box by running a linux rescue cd and running a couple commands to reset the root password.

There are several ways to crack a windows password, with and without a cd. Windows is no better. It's far easier to crack any password if you actually have access to the computer. Where the big difference is made is in the ability (or inability) to retrieve a password or run an exploit from a remote location.

i know, i manage 3 OSX servers and about 40 end user machines. we had an issue where the boss didnt want to "waste" money on a firewall.. until half of the machines on the network were hosting fake paypal sites

and yes it was done remotely.

I'm not surprised. Every system has their flaws, and in reality if someone wants in bad enough, they're going to get in, no matter what OS it is. Not running a firewall regardless of the OS is just plain careless as well.
