Thoughts on bent flywheel causing no start
After a clutch job, my 96 maxima (which started and ran 100% prior) mysteriously didnt start. I had a master tech check it out extensively... and after replacing the crank sensor he determined it must be a bent flywheel because everything else is good.
We couldn't figure out how a heavy flywheel could be bent (maybe prying on it to get trans off... Because it's not just the signal plate that's bent, it looks like the whole assembly.... Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts before I order a new flywheel. And also I couldn't find a signal plate for sale anywhere... I wonder if I just get a new flywheel, if the old signal plate will straighten out when bolted to the new flywheel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCFDH...e_gdata_player |

Btw he looked through the crank sensor hole and saw it wiggling so that backed up his conclusion. The flywheel was taken back out and I put it on a lathe to see if I could see how bent it is... Very slightly, but I guess enough to mess up the gap from the crank sensor...
