Why the S2K is better than the Evo

I’m a little disappointed with S2K for even having something like this posted on their website. It’s really silly… and really long.

I love Honda S2000s but that article is just insanely stupid.

at least they said you can't really compare both platforms...i hate it when people compare AWD to RWD.

I guess you'll have to go on the EVO forums and post why the evo is better than the S2K

So let me get this straight, he owns an S2000..so he probably drives one on a regular basis. And he doesnt think its strange that he can drive a car he is used to better than a car he has little to no experience with? Of course you are going to get better results driving YOUR OWN CAR over a brand new Evo that you don't own. By that logic, my car handles better than a vette because I would be more comfortable driving my car to its limit, than someone elses brand new vette.

I guess the world has all but forgotten 'The Scientific Method'. Obviously if HE can drive the S2000 faster through a course than the EVO, then must be a better car. Now, how about he gets 1000 professional drivers (without bias, which he of course has) to drive both cars through the same course 1000 times each and log the results---THEN he might have reason to write an article.

Ive driven the S2000.....and it is so overrated. Its a dog until you get to like 7500rpms. It has NO TORQUE...I couldnt even get the wheels to spin. Keep in mind..this was the older 2000 version..but I cant beleive the newer version is that much improved.

Aren't you jumping the gun as well? Your comparing it to things that were designed for the quarter mile which is not what the S2000 was designed for AT ALL. You get power at 6,000 because and no torque but on track it doesn't matter if your good because torque doesn't really matter once your rolling and your rpms aren't gonna drop below 6k on track anyway. I don't believe this car is overrated at all. Name another car you can buy with kick a$$ reliability (someone has 165k on his supercharged s2000), electronic drop top, hid's, and 240 n/a hp all for under 35k.

I'm not being bias because I own one either, I happen to love the STi (not really an Evo but close enough)

You were going well there but only proved your on biases with that last paragraph. The point of the s2000 is not the power, but the way it goes round corners. Yeah, honda nuts like to drag them cause it has their godly F20C engines, but it's not at all what the car was designed to do.

The article is really pointless, yes the s2000 is better at going around corners than an evo. I can make similiar arguements about my saab. Neither the s2k or the evo are as comfortable on long trips, have any where near as much trunk space and passenger room, nor as fuel efficient. The saab is better when it's in it's element, the highway. Does prove anything, no.

you don't know what your talking about. everyone that complains about the s2000 not being able to spin wheels, and no torque knows nothing about the car. the s2000 is made for the tracks. its enginered for what its made to do, and that is tear up the circuit tracks at high rpms.

its not a 1/4 mile car. its not made for burn outs. its not made for launches on the street to drill you back into your seat. but once the evo or sti run out of their powerband the s2000 is still going.

if you want raw power get the evo, but then again doesn't a turbo make up for everything? i respect the turbo crowd very much, but anyone can buy a turbo car or turbo any car for that matter and hit 12's with the right amount of money we currently have turbo charged s2000's hitting 10.6's in the 1/4.

like i said before, your can't even compare the two cars. they are just two different of platforms.

All the above said, how does the Evo compare to Honda’s S2000? There’s NO comparison!!!! They are two completely different animals and shouldn’t even be spoken about in the same breath.
Article should've ended there. I love how they say people put $60k into handling mods for their Evos. And they rip on the brakes! Evo brakes are amazing.
The S2k is a great car, but that's just silly.

This article is full of Bushet. I only read half of it and couldn't stand to read the rest.

IIRC, you blew the motor in your s2000. I'm still waiting for you to buy an Evo to see how much more durable a cast iron 4g63 motor is compared to the other motors you blew.

My opinion is if I wanted a nice reliable daily driver to cruise in the summer I would buy an S2000. If I wanted to build a badass track car I would buy an Evo. In terms of beating the snot out of either car I'm going to have to say the Evo is tougher and a better platform... for me.

The F430 has nothing to do with this. Just like we aren't talking about Saabs either. ;)

I have a track record for blowing up engines, I'd like to see an engine lastwith me driving lol
and the order is as follows:
1. 1987 740 Turbo Volvo
2. 1987 740 Turbo Volvo Wagon
3. 1988 760 Turbo Volvo
4. 2001 Honda S2000
5. 1995 Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4
6. 2002 BMW ///M3
7. 2001 Honda S2000

(no it's not a typo, I've had 2 S2000's)

The worst part is the volvo's are automatic

Every one says its because I can't drive but honestly do you see racecars not go through multiple engines?

Don't even give me that its because they race consistantly, so do I for hours at a time.

how did you go through 2 s2000 motors? what you break? the only thing that goes wrong with those cars is the valve train from over reving or the diff blowing. its easier to break a diff in the s2000 than it is to blow the motor up.

He drove his S2000 the same way I drive the Trueno in Battle Gear.
Too much time spend in the red zone.

Here's the thread about this.
