New Camera and First Shots: Canon EOS T2i

Ok well this is my first dive into actual photography, and already it is very addicting. Yesterday I purchased my first SLR, the Canon 550D (T2i). I created a flickr account and uploaded a couple snaps that I thought were a decent start. Most were shot on Av mode as I am trying to stay away from Auto from the first snap!

Used just the kit lens the 18-55mm and took over 300 pics in my house haha! Comments and constructive criticism are appreciated!

flicker is a bit more complicated then it used to be now with their new interface.
do you have a pc or mac?
if mac, just actions, view all sizes, choose the size you want, then drag and drop the image to the address bar and it will send you to the image, then just copy and paste the url like normal

shots are looking good so far!
if you feel like grabbing another lens im selling my 50mm 1.8

Hey Tiga I am running a PC still with windows 7. I had to click all sizes, than right click the picture and copy the url, and than post that link here, hit preview and change the url end tags to img end tags. There has to be an easier way haha!!

And thanks for the comments I still cant believe I snapped thatmany pictures that quickly. And how much are you looking to get for the lens, how old etc etc.

Today I took my gf to the Aviation Museum in Willowgrove. Definitely an interesting place with a lot of cool items, weapons, suits, and planes, jets etc. And best of all free admission!! I also learned outside that direct sunlight is brutal, even when it is at your back. I did the best I could and still feel the pics are progressing! All pics shot on Av mode and I was controlling the ISO, and f stops.

In your first post the shots are dark and it seems like you didnt set your white balance (hence the warm toned candle shot). Now in the last picture the dark works for me but the chandelier not so much, a longer exposure or a higher F/stop (lower numbers) would create a better image.

Your plane shots look great though, i like #4 most! I would say venture out into the full manual mode (M) just take a few trial shots before posing people to get your settings right. That's what i do, i like having full control of my camera. If you use a mac iphoto actually works fairly well image adjusting.

I am looking to upgrade my camera soon to a HD video capable body. The T2i shoots video correct?

Thanks man for the comments. I def don't think I am ready for M at all yet as it is only my third day shooting with an slr haha. I might do a few test shots for the hell of it. I have been doing a lot of reading and practicing, it is very addicting and rewarding. Tomorrow going to try to shoot the SRT and work on the way the sky appears etc. And yes the #4 plane pic is my background lol I loved it!

And def look into the T2i.. My friend has one which actually helped sway my opinion, and hes using a grip and a few aftermarket lenses and he loves it as well!! Only thing for HD I suggest you get a class 10 SDHC Memory card, even though the manual recommends class 6 or higher. I have read some stories of the camera buffering while shooting full HD 1080p if they had a class 6 card. Bestbuy.com has one for I think $100 originally like $160+.

Low iso, match shutter speed for light and aperture, work on focus spots and invest in a tripod for night shots.

Hey BlkwhtTsi any canon EF or EF-s series lens will work on the 550D due to it being equipped with the EF lens mount.
Also check out this site, which has incredible info on the T2i with beginner faq's, to compatible lens lists etc. http://www.cameratips.com/t2i/canon-...patible-lenses

Is the 50 mm used for the up close macro shots mainly?
