I doubt you have much of a case there. I know that many products are labeled "for off-road use only" and that pretty much protects them!

me and derf did mine before it got jacked, Dont do hood pins unless you really want them, I needed them to level my hood out. But now I have no hopes of selling it unless someone wants hood pins also. Its not really hard to do. just take your time,

The weight cannot make a difference since you are saying that the stock hardware can fail.
It's not about the weigth of them as much as it is the way they are put together and I suppose the aerodynamics of the car.

To me it is starting to sound like cars with long hoods have a lot more to worry about than cars with short hoods. Still a cheap hood with the latch not well molded into the carbon fiber can pull away on any hood.

Pins = cheap insurance against parts of your windshield in your eyes.

What happens in a lot of cases is that air gets under the outside edges towards the corners and causes the hood to flex allowing more air to get under. This leads to a "scoop" effect causing a lot of upforce on the hood itself. Occasionally the latch fails, but more often the hood cracks like a taco with the outside edges folding towards the center. I have also seen CF Impreza hoods crack around the scoop area from the pressure difference and resistance against the hood.

You can get the flush mound pins with the lock cylinders, they are a nice compromise.
