I doubt it but..are there ANY lakes to fish in Philadelphia??

So when I lived in Nj, I fished 2-3, sometimes 5 times a week. I lived right on a lake and had rivers all around. Now I live in Philly, and I really miss going out for 2 hours after school to fish. NJ is just to far sometimes, or most the time. are there ANY fishing lakes around here? I know there is a decent size body of water in FDR Park. It looks like fresh water....but is there anything in it? I dont know. does anybody know of any lakes somewhere near Philly? I dont mind driving upto 20 minutes out of the city.

You could go fishing in the Del river. I fish there all the time.Silver lake in bucks county is ok too. I would make sure you get your PA Fishing license cause if you get caught fishing without it. You will get a big fine.

Also you can fish pennypack park and wissihickon they stock them with Trout.

It's spelled Wissahickon. I believe he's referring to Wissahickon Park which runs from Lincoln Drive all the way through Roxborough and a little bit up. People fish on that river that runs through the bike trails and it's pretty serene up there. I think it might be called Fairmount Park, too.

Also, if you go to the Wissahickon Park area and have a mountain bike I highly suggest the trails.

The wissahickon is the river that runs through fairmount park near lincoln drive. If you look at a map, it runs north/south branching out from the schuylkill right near where Route 1 (roosevelt blvd) and Route 76 (schuylkill expressway) intersect.

It is stocked with trout, but they aren't there very long. The water gets too warm and they vanish as the summer goes on. I have caught sunnies and smallmouths in there though.

If your more to the NE of philly, there's the pennypacker. Just north of the tacony palmyra bridge. Never fished there but I've heard it's decent.

There's also Valley creek in Valley Forge park, a little farther out of the city but very pretty and there are wild brown trout. Fly fishing only however (or artificial lures only? Definitely look it up to make sure what the regs are)

Then, also farther outside the city, look at a map to the west and you'll see Ridley Creek State park. I haven't fished there, but I've heard there is fishing to be done.

Hopefully after work I'll be fishing over by the trash heaps in Tullytown/Falls. And by fishing I mean drinking heavily while a bait-less hook is in the water.
