Getting COMPLETELY frustrated... no turn signal problem

Im trying to get a 93 eclipse GS (fwd auto) running for my gf to drive. Ive replaced the alternator, battery, oil and filter, plugs, wires, power transistor unit, engine temp sensor, thermostat, and the final problem im trying to fix is the turn signals. Ive been on dsmtuners trying to get this figured out, but the mods on that site are making it impossible for me. Anyway, heres what I'm experiencing.

The hazards work just fine. The turn signals don't. I get no indication of turn signals when i turn them on. No green arrows on the dash, no clicking noise, nothing. Ive checked all of my fuses more than once. I replaced the multi-switch (turn signal switch on the steering column). Ive checked all the bulbs. The relay is the same relay as the hazards (meaning, if the relay were bad, my hazards wouldnt work either). Ive tried pulling and poking the hazard switch while the turn signals are on (sometimes a sticky hazard switch causes this problem). Nothing has gotten these signals to work, and I'm pulling my hair trying to figure it out. Im unbelievably close to taking it to a shop and having it fixed, which kills me to do because I'm sure its something stupid. Does anyone have any idea what else it could be?

Check the bulbs in the guage pod if they are lighting up. Should take you all of about 2 minutes to pull it. Its like 2 screw in the color then 4 on the cluster. Then just pull it out.

I would just buy a new flasher(s) as that is probally the problem and its very cheap to illiminate this. Also some cars have 2 flashers... one for turn signal and on for hazards. Also you sure the bulbs are good or even the right ones. I know in a pinch I put the wrong volt bulbs in my bike and they light up and flash, but really fast because it thinks they are burned out. Just trying to think of every little dumb thing to check first.

One thing you can check is turn your parking lights on... doesn't that illuminate the ambers also? This will atleast tell you if there is power.

If your still stuck, then you need to get a wire schmetic and start tracing wires and doing continuity tests.

Thanks for the response.

Checking the bulbs in the guage pod- I know these are good, because when I turn the hazards on, the arrows flash in the cluster like they should, and i hear the "click click" that youre supposed to hear. The hazards work fine, even on the dash.

Someone else mentioned to me the flasher might be bad. To be honest.., im not sure what that is. I read that this car uses a different flasher from the hazards. I was under the impression that the flasher was the same thing as the relay. Obviously not. What is a flasher?

The thing about checking for power at the lights is that the corner lights are turn signals ONLY. They don't flash when the hazards are on, there are separate lights on the exterior for hazards. The turn signal lights are turn signals only- they dont even come on with the running lights.

I have checked my bulbs, and even if one were blown, I should still be getting the super fast flash of the turn signal (and the other side's signals should still work fine). I'm getting NOTHING. I know its not the bulbs, and i know its not the fuses.

I guess my most promising lead is the flasher... I'm going to start reading up on that now, but anything else you could tell me about that would be very appreciated.

The flasher is the thing makes the click click sound. I'm 99% sure that's the problem since you have checked everything else out. I had mine stop working but instead of not lighting up, when I turned the turn signals on they would stay on (not blink) I replaced the flasher and all was well.

So the flasher isnt the same thing as the turn signal relay?

Im having trouble finding info on it.. Not sure why. Its located somewhere in the dash, right?

I had the very same issue but with a Subaru. Unfortunately for me it turned out to be a short in the wires which was behind my fender :/

Be sure to check all the wires although I don't think its your issue considering your fuses are solid.

If this is the turn signal switch you replaced -

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mitsu...item518f417060

Make sure it wasn't also broken (if used). You should be able to pull it apart and look inside for burns / worn out sections.

Good luck man, I know searching out this prob. is a mofo.

Some vehicles have separate flasher relays for turn signals and hazard lights. Be sure to check both systems.

Yeah some cars have 2 different systems for turn signals and hazards they both have a flasher units tho which is what makes the click click noise. my 240 does they are usually located under the steering wheel. kinda looks like a top hat usually silver in color.

This car also uses two flashers.

They should be the same part, no? IE, i could switch the hazard flasher with the turn signal flasher? That would tell me if the flasher is my problem if I could do that. If so, I'm going to do that when I get home. If not, ill pick up a new flasher on the way home.

Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it.

Most of the ones for the hazards are located near the hazard button which in this case is in the center console correct? the other flasher should be near the fuse panel under the dash

There are two switches.

(EDIT!! Rewritten I thought you said 1995 I apoligize)

One switch is the hazard switch on the center vent, 12v power runs through this switch to the turn signal/hazard relay, it is located beneath the dash drivers side. There will be a cluster of 4 relays, below these relays will be the self diag. connector. There will two larger relays on the bottom, and two smaller relays on top. You want the upper left relay. Wiring diagram number C-32. This is most likely the relay that is bad. I'm not positive this relay linked below, but pretty sure. Take a look under your dash and first match it up.

I bought the flasher... cant find it on the car. Took the head unit out thinking it was located near where i heard the clicking noise for the hazards... didnt find it. Took the bottom part of the dash on the drivers side (like where your knees go) and I saw a few things that looked similar, but they all had milti-prong sockets. The flasher i got has three prongs, looks like this:

Cant find it anywhere. I've been trying my hardest to get some responses on three different DSM forums, as well as spending hours searching them... Seems like everyone on their forums are LOOKING for help, with no one to GIVE any.

the flasher is usually under the dash, somewhere in proximity to the fusebox, check around the steering column.

Every flasher i've ever replaced has looked like this:

Flasher is going to be in one of the fuseboxes somewhere.

Honestly, best thing to do is get a hold of the wiring schematics.

So you guys wanna know how much of a jackass I am?

After all of this that I went through to get these turn signals working... replacing the multiswitch, the relays, the bulbs, checked the fuses... you wanna know what it was?

The f*cking fuse for the turn signals was MISSING. And so was the fusebox cover. So I checked all of the fuses, and they were all good.. i never anticipated one to be missing. DOH!
