FYI, I have the Cactus receiver taped onto the Nikon adapter all ghetto style, but it is also a precaution in case someone bumps into or for some reason the cam gets dropped it doesn't rip the whole thing out of the camera.

For the most part, im just simply bouncing my light using any kind of reflective or diffused surface. For a couple bucks, i used a white shower curtain, PVC pipe and zip ties to ghetto rig something to bounce my hotshoe-mounted flash. When im doing my stock photos, im often holding my external flash, or bouncing it off of a board/ceiling. I dont have any behind the scenes photos, but almost all of my photos on my website, www.ericharrisart.com, has photos using my flash.

Avoid direct lighting as much as possible. Bounce off stuff, white ceilings if you can.

what about your iso settings? what do you normally use when you do the full setup inside shots?

i'm used to shooting stuff that doesn't move, and i know it's going tobe different with people/animals.

Under controlled lighting indoors there's no reason why you shouldn't use the lowest ISO settings possible.

My suggestion if your not sure how much your going to like using OCF is just get some cheap china stuff off ebay. I paid 150 bucks and got 2 flashes, 3 receivers, a transmitter, and wireless shutter release from yonguo digital. Quality isn't that great and the flashes aren't that powerful but it definitely got me learning and interested in upgrading. I have been pretty happy with this stuff since I got it and use it all the time. Not to mention its nice not really having to care about a flash getting dropped or breaking because you paid nearly nothing for it.

im trying to teach myself more about controlled studio lighting as well as some out door, staged stuff. so i just got 2 alien bees 1600s and an alien bees ring flash, along with buff radio poppers. i havent done much practicing yet except with some friends in my home made studio but i have been hired to shoot some fashion shots for a clothing store and i want to do some in studio stuff soon so that i can offer them other advertising options.
