So i did a clutch on my wrx last weekend and what a nightmare it was. When i put it all back together, it sounds like someone threw a bag of skittles in the bell housing, but the sound it synchroed to rpm so it has to be something hitting or rubbing against the flywheel or pressure plate. Car goes in gear and drives just fine. Any ideas?

does the car make the sound with the clutch pressed in? did you replace the throw out bearing? if so or if you didn't, did you put some lube on the shaft/throw out bearing when you re-installed it?

dust shield on the bottom of the motor is bent and hitting the flywheel.. Bend back and thank me later

haha Ryan is right... good call. You got off lucky... just hop under the car and bend the dust shield down a bit, then report back and let us know if that fixed it.

Does not need to be said again, But yes.. It's the dust shield. I've run into the same problem a long time ago on my sti after installing my new built motor. Heart dropped literally to the floor when I heard the noise. Then, found that problem. Luckly it was a quick and easy 2 second fix.

thax for all the help. blew the skyline up so had to get under the wrx and fix it. That stupid shild. Had to drop the trans in order to bend it back. thanx for all the help
