advice on pothole problem

I hit a HUGE pothole in bristol today. I was on green lane if anyone is familiar with it. It was at the light were truman and the gas station are. Now my steering or tire or something is messed up... How do i go about this. I mean cmon, fix the ****ing street. They are responsible for the upkeep and maintaining safe road ways right?

drive around it. Granted, doing this makes you look drunk, so if you've been drinking, I would advise not to avoid potholes, but if you're sober, swerve around all that ****.

Document it and contact whomever should be maintaining the road. Either PennDOT or your local Township.

You're going to have to get it fixed and then send penndot the repair bills.

It's not a Penndot road, you would need to take it up with Bristol Twp. Good Luck!

And for anyone driving Millcreek Pkwy, stay in the left lane- the right lane is a disgrace.

Like they're saying, swerve. More than likely, no one is going to help you out.

Regardless if it's PenDot or the township. Take pictures, write a letter to let them know what happened, get your car fix, write a letter with the bill and state you want compensation. Be persistent. The township will act faster than PenDot so that's one good thing.

Potholes FTL. As others have said, document it.. the damage AND the pothole and then call and complain.

If it's Bristol Township

Quote:
To report a pot hole or other roadway concern on a Bristol Township road you can call the Public Works Department at (215) 788-1698.

^ you're not the only one who "braces for impact" brother. I do that **** too, cuz it hurts me emotionally when my car takes pain. If I'm alone I say weird stuff like "I'm sorry baby...please don't hate me. I had no choice" haha. I'm dead serious. Or I just curse up a storm.

This happened to a friend of mine. She called the township and pursued it relentlessly. They ended up paying for her part!

First, diagnose exactly WHAT is wrong with the car, (i.e. the part(s) that need to be fixed or replaced)

Then, like everyone else said, just document EVERYTHING and be persistent!

Good luck

If you have aftermarket rims with low profile tires they may give you a hard time. Not 100% related but a guy on the prelude forum had his rear lip and exhaust ripped off by improperly graded train tracks. Went over them at around 20 mph(i think) His car was only lowered about an inch and he had video of other stock cars getting owned and he still had a hard time getting paided

You are going to have a hard time getting this paid you. Techanically you are responsibe for having control of your car at all times. So hitting a pot hole ite technincally drive error. But, since we do pay taxes to keep the roads maintained, you would think they would replace parts if they are OEM. Keep us posted on the progress of this.

i dont think they will do anything. rush had a construction sign fall on her car because of negligence on penn dots part and they didnt do anythign about fixing the damage.

a huge v-plow plowed my girlfriends car into the bank. she got over as far as she could and stopped and they pushed her against the bank and trapped her in her car for 2 hours. it ripped her bumper off and screwed up paint all over the car and broke the windsheild. she contacted them and they said they would fix it. she got a quote and pictures and sent it to them and after persistant calling, two weeks later they said they arent responsible for it.

so good luck.
