buying a corvette?

I am seriously considering buying this corvette:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

I test drove it today, and it all seemed well. Exhaust sounded nice, brand new tires, i believe it had a short shift kit, drilled and slotted brake rotors, pulled real hard.

Does anyone know any good corvette or ls1 specialty shops near philly that
will look at this car and make sure everything is in good working order?

Any other common issues with vettes I should look for? Im fairly familiar with corvettes, and I did not hear any lifter noise upon startup, no rock in the seat, and i was able to shift into second and third at low throttle, so i believe the ship shift has been disabled.

Any help is appreciated.

Nice cars, I used to drive my boss's 2002 z06 and then his 07 z06 often. I had the 2002 for a few months actually. The C5 interior screams GM cheap, and the seats arent the best.

Nice car, but pricing could be better. I would think 18-20K it is 8-9 years old afterall. My boss ended up selling the z06 with full widebody aero, and only 21K for 26,500 almost 2 years ago.

oh believe me, I dont plan on paying a lick over $18.5.

Salesman said price was negotiable to, so I dont see it as a problem. Financing is the harder part, since I have plenty of income, but no real credit history.

Anyone know any shops that are very knowledgeable about corvettes that can go over it for a small fee?

I'll take a ride down, now I have never owned one, but I have tinkered with them and know my way around the engine well. Just buy some beers. There is a few things to look over and dig into, but the good thing is they are easy to work on.

I never had any problems w/ my c5 aside from a fuel level sensor once and a fuel pump once. $18.5 sounds fair if the car is clean. Pewter isn't my fav, but you will love the car they ride great. Used C5s offer a lot of bang for the $$.

Too bad i am out i am in TX for a couple more months or i could help you out. Around 75% of the cars that i do are c5's and c6's. If you get the bug to start modding it in a few months then pm me. I could help you out.

It's a solenoid in the trans that wont allow you to shift from 1st to second unless under heavy acceleration. Its a fuel saver to get around the gas gussler tax, it can be eliminated with a resistor or tuning.

Btw was the column lock issue only with automatic cars? If not, how can I tell if this issues has been addressed.
