Mikes 1990 TSI AWD
I got the car from MA almost 4 years ago. I had 2 friends pick it up and trailer it back to PA. The car was in decent condition and had a new low mileage JDM motor and SBR FMIC with receipts. At the time it had a 50 trim, safc and vpc in it. As soon as I got the car I hooked the logger up and tuned it the best I can with the VPC/AFC. Hated the setup and ended up running the SAFC and a 2g MAS. I don't have any pictures of when I 1st got it because my camera was broke at the time. This is a picture about a month after I got it. I started to do some remodeling on my house and the car became a tool shed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I was smoking alot and did a compression test. Ended up being the head gasket. New Headgasket, FP2 cams and picked up a gt-12 for a great price. ![]() Now skipping a few years (lost a lot of pictures) Gt-12 BB Turbo SBR FMIC Fluidyne Radiator & Slim Fan 2g mas and 3.5" rigged intake Ported and Rebuilt 90 TB JMF SMIM FIC 650cc Injectors Walbro 255 Pump Aeromotive AFPR Earls Fuel Filter SS Feed and Return for Rail Ported 2g Exhaust Manifold RNR O2 Eliminator Downpipe 3" Custom exhaust with Megan Muffler Tial External Wastegate SAFC MMCD Logger ****ty Trans 3 Bolt Rear Stock Struts and no name springs 3g Eclipse Wheels I also deleted everything I can under the hood and moved some things around to clean it up. Added Manual rack, deleted all emissions and relocated the battery properly to the rear. ![]() Eventually I got some KYB AGX's, Sprint springs and new wheels. ![]() Throughout the season I had trans problems. Could never hit second, continued to race and broke a shift for. Got the car in 3rd gear and drove it about 60 miles in 3rd gear. Burning the clutch when needed to get going. Got the car home, removed the trans and burn ACT 2100. Sent my center diff out to be welded, TRE double syncros and new evo forks. All the bearings looked good so let it go. I got the new trans in and did one hard 2-3 and broke a shift rail. Removed the trans again and replaced the rail. ![]() ![]() Put everything in again. Banged the 1-2 like butter, shift to 3rd and griiind. I was pissed. Got in a parking lot, launched it and snapped the rear axle. Picked up a 4 bolt from a friend.

Over the past few months, I've been working on it more then ever. I was using a Coors Light can for a catch can for some time. I finally got a nice shaved and powdercoated valvecover with -10 AN fitting welded on.
![]() I also picked up a Dejon intake pipe to clean up the old setup. ![]() I recenty removed my bumper and hood for some more room. While it was off I polished my end tanks and removed the oil cooler from between the radiator/intercooler. Got some AN fitting and relocated it on the drivers side where it can get some air. ![]() Since the car was sitting I figured it would look better all black on top so I tinted the windows. 20% rear and 30% on the front. I was hoping the get DSMLINK in a few months so I picked up an AEM Wideband. I removed the gauge cluster and removed the stock oil pressure gauge. I did some trimmed and slid the AEM in its place for an almost stock look. While on the gauge subject I removed all my heating knobs etc and built a plate to hold my boost, water temp and oil pressure gauges. I kept the heat in the car because I like to drive it in the winter. I have control of fan speed and temp only. ![]() I picked up DSMLink V3 and a set of PTE 880cc Injectors. I also removed my stock o2 sensor and ran the AEM wideband through Link. This is how the car sits now, all thats left is to do some tuning and once the weather breaks I will be prepping it for paint. The wheels will also be getting painted. After the prep work is done I will be putting a 90-91 GSX wing on it and painting the top of the car flat black or gloss black. ![]()

Thanks JJ! I've been wangting to do it for a while but never had the time or patience.
The GT-12 is a Garrett ball bearing center section with a mitsu compressor. Its a .58 trim. I was never on a dyno yet, but I'm planning on it this year. I had the car at the track last year and had drivetrain problems. Trans wouldn't go in second, snapped axles, broken shift fork, snapped ujoints. After I got the rebuilt trans in I was still having problems. I needed to baby 3rd gear. My best was a 12.2@116 on 93. I was seeing crazy timing all over the place, now that I have link I should see a big difference. Looking to nail my 11 second goal I've had for the last 2 years. |

Nah, plastic if off and the WB doesn't have the bezel on it. It's unfinished, but functional, haha.

Lol. Yep.
They are nice rims for what they are. 15 lbs each and they're only cast. Here's a pic of them on my old car back in 05 or 06 |
