PS3 or Xbox 360?

So I would like to upgrade from my old PS2 and get either a PS3 or Xbox 360. Only problem is i cant decide which one i like more.

I am a Playstation fan because i've had them for awhile and dont want to stray from the company thats worked so well for me.
BUT They only games i like on the PS3 are also offered on Xbox whereas

Xbox has games that are exclusives that i love (Left 4 Dead, and Halo) all my friends have the Xbox 360 and ive gotten used to the controller.
BUT I'm worried about the dreaded RROD issue and getting screwed once the system is out of warrenty.

I most likely would never play online, if i did it would be seldom. I dont need a DVD player since my family has one. A blu-ray player would be sweet but i dont have a HD TV nor do i want to spend the extra money for blu-ray.

I just want the best system for plug and play, i want to be able to put a game in and play without having to worry about issues and/or the RROD.

which system would the people of TST suggest?

i have both, well i own my ps3, brother has xbox and i like both. xbox owns when it comes to forza. if you want to play xbox online you have to pay

ps3 owns at other sports games though, and now gran turismo 5 on feb 3rd . on top of that online playing is free. and on top of that you get a blue ray dvd player.

my final answer is PS3

i vote PS3. Have both, like the PS3 much better.

If all your friends have xbox then get that. The RROD is under warranty for awhile and even after that it's possible to fix it yourself.

I own a 360, but I've been lusting after a PS3 for a while for it's exclusive games like Metal Gear and God of War. I'll own one eventually, but the 360 has brought me plenty of good times.

I went through 9 xbox's in 2 years. 3 of them in 2 days. Needless to say i went to a Ps3 and love it.

Pick what games you're going to want to play, pick the system that has said games... go with it. If you're not going to play online, then that's all it really comes down to.

While I love X-Box 360, it takes a lot to get to where you need to be depending on what system you buy (arcade vs. elite). If you buy arcade, you need a hardrive to make big saves/download content (Forza), but that's not really that expensive. Then to play online you need the adapter (or if you're lucky enough to be able to hard wire it, then cool)... other than that I like it better overall. I could never get into PS3 no matter how many times I played it and I think the rendering difference is apparent and PS3 just doesn't cut it for me.

Regardless... doesn't matter what you get if you're gonna get it to play it on your own.

hmm well like i said i really like that left for dead game and halo, i dont reallly like metal gear and have never played god of war. The exclusives on PS3 are just so-so and not really enticing. Xbox on the other hand has at least 2 games that are enticing me. i'm going to look at the game list again for both systems.

just sold my 360 for a ps3. xbox was too "arcade" style for me and i didn't like paying for online access that i barely used.

I've owned my ps3 for a couple years now and have loved it. I sold the 80gig to buy the slim becuase of power useage and how loud the fan was. PS3 is my choice b/c of free online play and blu-ray. Also the controller in my opinion is more ergonomic than the 360 I played my brothers xbox today and my hand cramped up a few time playing MW2. Maybe I'm too use to the ps3 controller? Either way try one and if you don't like it you can always sell it and buy the other.

if you like playing online more, get a 360, if you're more of a single player gamer get a ps3. look at the titles for each system, and also the exclusive ones. see which ones will interest you the most and decide on that.

I had the same dilemma. I've never been a game guy so I was unbiased. I went with the 360 elite and couldn't be happier. I think it really depends on what your friends play. Online play is where it's at. Ican't stop playing modern warfare 2

Plus Forza is only available for 360. That alone makes it an easy call.

Everyone always said theres more people on the 360 live. Umm, pretty sure youll never run out of people to play on either system. like your going to play that extra 30k people at once?

Some of Xbox's games really interest me and i dont plan on playing online but, Playstation seems more reliable and FIFA looks amazing. I dont have much experience play a PS3 but i assume its just like PS2.

I love racing games but not one has a 1g dsm : ( that alone would be the deciding factor haha.

The one thing that Playstation does better IMO is sports games. But I only say that because I don't hear people talking about them for XBox even though I know it has them.

So that could be the deciding factor right there for you if you like sports games.

I don't know if anyone has said this, but Left 4 Dead is pretty ****ing boring after about 30min if your not playing with people online.

Get an Xbox if you plan on playing games with your friends online.... if not, the PS3 is way better IMO.

Also I don't know if this would ever be any interest to you, but the Xbox's value is rapidly decreasing, while the PS3 still holds its value.

lol i feel ya on that one, but i was referring to the servers each system has. xbox live costs money, which naturally brings better servers and better online play. sometimes this might not be the case, but for 360 it is. their servers are a hell of a lot better. ps3 is free online play and their servers are a lot worse. i'm not saying they are terrible, but they crash a lot more and the speeds are slower. so if someone is real big on online play, they should probably pick up a 360.

EDIT: oh and if you're gonna pick up a 360 just get the used 140 dollar one. they are all "pro" systems, which means they all have the same operation system. black, red, white, it's all the same. my good buddy is a manager at gamestop and he tends to fill me in on these things.

Dude, what your saying about "servers" is completely wrong... VERY few games have dedicated servers, and the ones that do, are payed for by the production company, not Microsoft/Sony. This may sound awkward, but the monthly fee with Xbox, is just paying for Xbox Live... Which the only servers concerned with that, would be the Download servers. Its just software basically. Its not like a MMO like World of Warcraft, where they actually have rooms full of servers that are being played on.

Here is the difference in noticeable online play between Xbox and PS3: Mics are 10x clearer on XBL. XBL finds the best possible host in each room, allowing the entire room to ping its lowest, while PS3 finds its hosts randomly, which can be a pain in the ass sometimes.
