Just to update everyone, in case anyone cares. Today I signed my contract at Fort Dix.

I leave for basic training for the Navy January 24th, 2010 to be trained as an Aviation Machinist.

I cannot describe how excited I am, I just hope these next 8 months don't drag like they probably will.

Howed MEPS go for you. Why is your ship date so late and yes it will drag by. I signed in november and i have 69 days left till i ship out for fort knox

That's pretty awesome. I was really close to signing up for the Marines after highschool.

Thanks! Its so late because obviously the opening for the job isn't until then.

The military is really strapped for occupations because of everyone signing up due to the ****ty economy... Which sucks for people like me who enlist because I want to be in the military, not because I don't want to work at McDonalds.

I've been up since 4 am, passed out on the couch earlier. I was at MEPS til 4 pm. That is one long ass day.

It was probably an easy job for me to get being a female and all. ... I still can't wait.

Sweeet....U'll be fixing my plane when I'm there in 3 years. I'll be flying for the Marines....I dont know if the navy services marine aircraft... but with the budget of the marines....it woudlnt surprise me lol

How did you do on the ASVAB? I took one of them and got a 92% lol.

It is probable that I will.

I don't start until January, so my active duty will technically be 3 years 4 months. Thanks to the Delayed Entry Program.

wow... completely forgot about this thread.

Ended up getting bumped up a few months. Left for boot camp Sept 23rd, graduated Nov 20. Now I am at NAS Pensacola, FL for class. Waited over 2 months to be classed up.... but at least its short schooling.

Hoping to get P3s in Hawaii.

Any idea on what job you want? I wanted Corpsman when I went in, got aviation and am much happier with that.

i signed my contract w/Army on october 29th and i wont be leaving til march 3rd. the delayed entry program blows.

Unless you bug and bug them to get rolled up. I signed april 30th, was supposed to leave Jan 25th, I got bumped up to Sept 23rd.
