Do you Rotaries Pre-Mix?

So the more reading ive been doing about rotary engines the more and more i want to question matiences habbits with this 13b in my Mazda RX8 GT...

I constantly have oil in my trunk and check my oil level at every fill up becuase she does like to consume oil, since mainly my drives with her are 100 mile drives on the weeknds to my girls house...

However ive read that pre-mixing helps lubricate the seals more provide better gas milage and make the motor last longer,

BUT... there is already a facotry mixing system aboard the RX8 that controls gas and oil mixture in the engine and its controlled by the computure for different amounts under different RPM loads and premixing could mess that ratio up?

I really want to have my motor last a good while as i plan on keeping it, I do have a nice long warrenty for it but i shouldnt have to realy on that.....

What is everyones takes on Pre-mix?

Edit: also my car has 34K on it and im not sure if the gas was ever premixed, would begging that cycle now cause problems from what ive read it should begin shortly after the break in period?

read the owners manual, i'm sure it will tell u how to properly care and maintain your new car.

btw, i was not aware that 13b's were in RX8s.... I thought these used a newer 2-rotor for the rebirth of the RX-...........

pretty sure that is correct too...and... apparently it is technically called the "Renesis 13B-MSP". Renesis for short, but it is essentially just an updated NA version of the 13B-REW from the RX7. Even displaces the same 1.3L from 2 rotors.. hmm. for some reason I thought it was a compeltely different rotary.

it is still a 13b, its not a 13b-rew (rx7) its a 13b-msp (rx8)

Now there are OMPs(Oil Metering Pumps) built into the engine. They lubricate the Apex seals to increase the longevity of the engine.

You can premix, I do not. Why? Because I don't want to wear down my fuel filter and pump by putting oil into my fuel system. In theory pre-mixing is a great idea...for rx7's and older. But for rx8's IMO, it is not needed.

Your best bet is stick with 5w-20/5w-30 NON SYNTHETIC!

Pretty sure premixing clogs your cat, so if you have it on forget it. Otherwise, might throw in a little to see what happens.

i've made sure on numerous occasions that the OMP and oil injectors in my 7 are in great shape, so I dont really see the need to premix. Yea, maybe it could possibly help, but these engines already go to 150k miles or more on the stock OMP system, so im not really all that worried.

dont premix....all your going to do is lower your gas octane level....i premix cause im running a microtech and it does not control the omp cause mine is electric...earlier rx-7s had machanical omps....just always check your oil level and keep up with oil changes....change coolant every 2 years....only use green fluid.....peak, prestone, etc...as old coolant will break down coolant seals over the years....just take care of her and it will last for a long time....

i premix in my 88 the engine runs great gas milage is actually a little better then my usual 100 mile to the tank now i get like 150 to the tank no lie.
but i also fixed a couple other things that was ****ed up. ive been pre mixing for a month now
the only thing i hate is measuring that **** when i fill up and when i get that ****ing look at the pump cause im oiling my tank.

i dont premix. it isnt needed ina completely stock engine with the oem MOP. on our race rotaries, we remove the mop system and premix . in street cars, we dont premix. on an oem car, like what others have said, its not great for the pump/filter and it lowers your octane.

i kno that racing beat has some sort of mop modification where they change the little pin and it alters the flow of the oil (only at max setting so normal driving oil consumption isnt changed). so if you were doing a lot of road racing or something that might be a good idea.

if your just looking to take care of the car, all u need to do is keep an eye on the oil level and use the right NON SYNTHETIC stuff.

imo if the oem system didnt lubricate enough, you would have noticed way before you hit 35k.

you realize thats more oil then a 2 stroke uses right? even most 2 strokes which use the fuel oil as the primary lubricant only run 50:1 or 32:1

on my turbo half bridge i run 8 ounces per full tank if im going to beat on the car....6 ounces for normal driving....it doesnt take much 2-stroke in the gas to get the job done....running 1 ounce per gallon is insane....not only the cost of oil every time you fill up but your killing the octane level of the gas....in both of my company rx-7 race cars...both N/A with microtechs....we still only run the same as i do on my turbo car
