okay so i'm the FNG here i guess... what did i just sign up for? haha. i seriously have no idea what the site is. i just signed up because i saw this thread and evidently it's a good thing? lol. i'm reading the FAQs now though. god i feel like such a n00b.

i'm reading now about torrents. i'm an old school napster/kazaa/limewire/frostwire user. this is all new to me. why is demonoid such a good site?

okay so i've figured out a little bit. i guess maybe i was a little quick to think i would be so clueless. it all seems straightforward enough.

i'm downloading one app and one whole CD. both show that they're downloading at a decent speed (the app is going at +/- 530 kB/s), but they both seem to be going super slow. hopefully it speeds up a little.

In theory its a more reliable/safer place to find torrents...I am partial to thepiratebay.org but demoniod is a members only site when they close membership your screwed unless you have a friend who is a member invite you.

i am sure there is a better more in depth explanation of why demoniod is tits but thats all i can say about it w/o sounding like a jackass.

always look for torrents with more seeders then leechers and try and seed as much/long as possible its what makes the torrent world go 'round

I just wish there was a way to sort by leechers descending. That way you can find a popular file and upload like crazy while people want it to bring up your ratio.

i was wondering if you could sort seeders or if i was just a total noob...another reason i like piratebay a little better

i'm already a little frustrated by this whole process. i did what was suggested and downloaded the torrent with the most seeders and it went great. between 500 and 650 kB/s. the next file i downloaded had 10x as many seeders and it's now dl'ing at about 35 kB/s. what's the deal with this? is it my computer and connection, am i doing it wrong, or is it really just that unpredictable?

the more seeders versus leechers the better....so 100 seeders and 10 leechers is going to download faster then 100 seeders and 60 leechers...if thats not your problem then it may be hit or miss, or maybe out of 100 seeders you are downloading for 24 of them and then 7 of them go offline or stop seeding the torrent that will slow your download rate until you connect to more seeders.

if your looking for torrents will a lot of seeders i would try http://www.thepiratebay.org
its a little more user friendly. If you are looking for movies make sure you know your vocab and read user feedback

Movie quality vocab:

Cam- bootleg video camera action usually the poorest quality a/v
TS(telesync)- filmed with a better camera usually from the projection booth and with an audio jack interface, better then CAM but not by much
dvdrip- usually a ripped copy of a dvd or a early release screener
