60D !?!? Canon comes through again.

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consum...ameras/eos_60d

I have been longing for my 7d for the longest time now, and now that I'm ready to buy it, i think i might wait for this new release. I'v done a lot of reading, and minus the speed (i really like the 8fps with the 7d), and a few other frivolous things, i can't find many differences. It seems like a pretty good camera, and for a really good price. release date is apparently in October.

opinions?

Not trying to start a brand war (I really couldn't care less between brands) but the just-announced Nikon D7000 is about 2 years ahead of this camera. If you don't have more than two lenses it's worth the switch. 6 fps, way better autofocus, magnesium body and all that stuff, plus 1080p@24fps video if you're into that kind of thing. 7D competitor at 60D pricing.

That said, any camera, from a Rebel to the D3s, is very capable these days.

just read up on the d7k, another really good deal. It seems like the companies are really starting to offer affordable prices on the new bodies (if it was only the same for lenses ) I'm gonna have to stick with Canon though, i already put some cash into lenses, and i most of my friends shoot with canon, so i have a wide assortment of lenses to borrow. does Nikon have anything comparable to Canons e-TTL thing. (the newer cameras all have a wireless flash transmitter built in.)

Yeah, if everyone you shoot with shoots Canon that's a good reason to stick with it. It won't make any difference in your pictures anyway.

Nikon has had i-TTL for years and it's one of Nikon's selling points, much more reliable and effective than Canon's TTL metering.
