How much does stone cost? Enough to park 2-3 cars.

So I've been thinking about having some stone delivered to lay next to the garage to park cars. How much stone is recommended for something like this? Also what am I looking at for a price?

like pavers? or what? stone is expensive....and you're going to have to get it delivered unless you know someone with a dually or something along those lines. if you just want to park cars, dig it out a bit, put down all purpose sand and gravel

I can tell you that it cost my dad $2,000 to get an area paved to fit 3 cars.

check the laws in your local jurisdiction... seriously! In MANY jurisdictions, it is illegal to park on an unpaved surface. I know in my area, people occasionally park on their lawns because of lack of parking, they get ticketed. Recently, I heard a story about a guy who parked on stone and got ticketed as well.

Would hate to have u spend all that money then get ticketed by your local law enforcement.

Its not that expensive, get a quote from Orners Garden Center in Havertown, theres a quarry almost right across Rt.1 from my house, and a contractor supply place right across the street, called Martinelli or Marinelli or something like that. google.

No not pavers. And I also don't want to pave. My idea was to dig down a bit and then box it out with wood and fill it in with golf ball sized stone.

It depends on which formula the place delivering stone uses.

BUT, using golf ball size stone, at 4" deep, a ton of stone will cover roughly 50-75 sq ft.

Depending on type and size of stone, it will be about $100/ton for small, smooth/round river rock delivered. Limestone runs about 1/2 that. Crushed stone you can find for about 1/10 that.

going back to my days at Orners, I believe crushed stone is weighed in yards like mulch.

2 years ago when I was getting estimates to have a garge built 3/4 inch modified stone, probaly the most commonly used stone, was $400-$500 per tri-axle delivered.

Ill ask my dad for you. Were having a addition put on our house right now and its a 2 car garage being added and we have the stones you are talking about laid down. Ill ask him how much it costs for the garage and let you know how much for a single spot is.

We just got 30 tons of stone for just our RV. We got 10 tons of those big rocks and it costs $300, then 10 tons of smaller rocks which was $400 and then another 10 tons of SMALLER rocks.

If you pave it, it's gonna be a whole hell of a lot more then that!

We dug a nice sized hole... filled it with the larger rocks, piled the smaller ones on top of those and the smaller ones on top of that. I forget exactly the sizes of the stones... but the top layer is not bad at all.

ya, golfball sized is rather large if you're going to be parking modified cars on it. Maybe if its just for a stock daily/suv. I would prob go through with getting 2 layer.

i have small pebble sized rocks, they are actually those red landscaping ones. they work great for me, they are still stable enough to use a jack on.

if you wanted goose egg sized rocks i have some you can have for free. but they are almost certainly to big.

I'd estimate 4 yards of gravel for a spot to park 3 cars thats roughly 3" thick. your best bet would also rent a jumping jack or a plate tamper. it'll make it easier to tamp it down and level the gravel once down. I believe they run about $60/ $75 a day.

and grave by the yard isn't expensive at all. if a yard of mulch is about $35, i'd say gravel is about the same. I've never bought it but have used it dozens of times at my old job.

There's a place in hellertown that when I was picking up stone for the boss`s driveway, I was paying $30-$40 per load which was normally about 9,000-10,000lbs(dually with a 12 foot dump trailer). If i remember it was called 2B modified it was mainly crushed up concrete.

The prices might have gone up since then, it was 2 yrs ago.

Around our area the price of 2A modified ranges from $14-20 per ton (picked up). Check out Four Seasons if you need it delievered or Eastern industries if you can borrow a dump truck for yourself.
