misread tags

ok i have a modded 240sx...nothing obnoxious but the paint job is kinda hurting. anyhow i've been pulled over 2 times in 2 different states because "they read my tags and my car came back as a dodge so they had to pull me over for no reason to see if my info checked out"

my point is what are the chances of there being an actual error in the system on two separate occasions in 2 different states?

do you think they are just bsing me as an excuse to pull me over i.e. purposely putting in one of my tag numbers incorrectly just to pull me over with suspicion?

and i'm kind of tired of this happening because they always run my info for atleast 15-20 minutes while i get gawked at on the side of the road for being pulled over. do i have the right to tell them i'm tired of giving my information after repeated harassment and they should call in my tags again to make sure before they run my license,reg, insurance for 20 minutes and waste more of my time?

Running your tags and having it come back to a different car is a totally reasonable situation for a stop. Being stopped twice is hardly "repeated harassment" you can explain the situation to the officer and if you want you can call PennDOT and explain the situation and have them check to see if there is an error.

i'm not saying it's unreasonable to get pulled over for invalid tags. i'm saying do you think they're purposefully "accidentally" running a wrong digit so that that another car comes up just so they have a reason to pull me over. i even said something to the female officer in pa when she was pulling me over that she probably misread a digit on my license plate and that she should probably check it again i informed her that the same incident happened in maryland about 6 months prior to this and when he checked my info and re-ran my tags that everything was fine. she gave me an attitude and insisted on my info anyway and made me sit there for 20 minutes. i wasn't even rude about.

i've had a busted headlight where i live now for about two weeks and work a late job and got pulled over 4 times in the past too weeks and when they ran my tags they had no issues whatsoever so i don't know why i would randomly have my car just read up as a dodge
