Raced at Cecil Today

IT WAS FREEZING! It was also the first time I have ever attempted to use slicks, I have a dying clutch and torn pep-boys axles, but I made it down the track and made it back on the trailor without broke axles.

FIrst run I dont know if I hit fluid or ice or what, but I almost crossed the center line 3 or 4 times so I got out of it, was like a 12.6 @ 108 or something,

2nd and final run

60' 1.83

330' 4.91

1/8 7.30

MPH 102.71

1000' 9.346

1/4 11.011

MPH 136.87

The above time is not all its got, I should be able to cut another .20 off of my 60' with less air in the slicks and a track that isnt 33 degrees, and atleast another .10 off the 330' and that puts me in the mid 10's at around 500whp, I have another 80whp I can throw at it with Ethanol and another 100-150whp if I switch to Q16, then my injectors are maxed, as it was with this really cold air I was at 100% duty in my datalogs using E85, if I would of blended it down to E70 I could of got a little more out of it.

Got the boot on my 1st full pass, no cage or bar or anything

Short vid from my brothers cell phone, the Camaro ran a 1.78 60' and a 12.15 @ 116

That car is moving OUT!! BTW the ethanol mixture in this area should be E70 right now anyway..Are you using 1600's???What fuel pump?

It should be E70 but its not, it took me 2 seconds to start my car last winter, it takes 10 right now. And my AFR's were about 1 point lean on my winter dyno/tune which was on E70 so I had to add 6-7% fuel trackside.

I am using 1000cc Injectors and 2 Walbro 255hp's and they were pretty close to being maxed out with the combination of the super cold air and the 85% Ethanol Mixture, 1600's shouldnt even be called Injectors they should be called nossles, there is no way to idle them without a misfire any leaner than 12.0, which is not very streetable IMO

I have seen flow charts of 1600's at idle, and literally the lowest than can flow is like 250-300cc's, which is a **** ton of fuel for an idleing vehicle.

I don't think it would of been worth racing in the cold weather due to the fact that you can't get any traction with this cold weather. Especially with a fwd car. If you end up having to put a cage in there, you are going to be losing a couple tenths due to the weight factor when a cage goes in.

The Cromoly Cage I have sitting in the garage only weights 50lbs, I am shedding that this winter by plugging the sunroof. Remember this is my first full pass ever on a tire, this pass would of been deep in the 10's with a 1.65 60', and that is not at full boost either.

Thanks man, to be totally honest I could of dropped the 60' alot, I have a beat front suspension setup, no traction bars, bad alignment and I had too much air in the slicks, not to mention I have never launched my car......haha

7500rpm not on the 2-step, I was almost positive I was going to break an axle instantly, otherwise I probably would launch lower and in boost. I had to replace my turbo so all the money I had for axles unfortunately went to that.

Pep Boys $150 replacements, and most of the grease in them are now on the inside of my slicks, maybe that is what I slipped in on the first pass. The axles I want cost $1600, the ones I am going to get cost $1050, not a small investment.......

Thanks, I cant wait to get back out there in the spring, now that I have the ice broken I know my next full pass will be a deep 10sec pass. My manifold has poor wastegate placement so that is going under surgery as I type this to fix that, because boost creep is a bitch. Once I get that fixed I can start to use the boost by gear to maximize traction in every gear. I looked at my datalog and I was spinning all of 1st, 2nd and the last half of 3rd gear, as I shifted a little to early into 3rd gear, my goal is to get up to 108-110 in the 1/8th and to a consistend 1.65ish 60', that will be a solid 10.50 pass if I can hit those lower numbers, in full street trim (fuel/boost) in a Honduh

It all displays the same, the sensor is looking for Lambda whether stoch is 14.7 or 10.0, so I tune for the same AFR as if it was Gasoline..... 11.7 - 12.0 is good for me, I ran out of Injector in the last 150' and saw 13.0 but everything is fine, I barely heard a ping going through the traps. I never saw 18psi going down the track until about 8k in 4th gear, then it crept fast to 22psi by 8500 when I went through the traps, definately was not expecting that....lol I thought it was pulling extra hard....haha

Good pass for this kind of weather! 24.5s MTs? I hope to be trapping near that next year.

I know what you mean about about the sliding all over the place feeling. My car did that on my first pass this year through 3rd at Maple, it was really strange getting tailwag in a FWD Civic lol.

Relax, bud. When the dude with a drag Honda and a boosted daily that has had fast Honda's for years AND fabs his own parts tells the new kids on the block that they're doing it wrong, it's time to step back and learn something.
