an ej25 head will bolt onto an ej18 block, but the bore sizes are probably off too much to make a good running car, im not even sure the head gaskets will seal at that point.

if thats the case then i need to find some phase1 ej25 block halves, can anyone clarify that statement?

ive given up on the ej18 idea and have found a ej25d engine which needs headgaskets, so i will get the motor, and i will hopefully be picking up a set of wrx rods so now i just need a crank, bearings, and headstuds and i will put the motor together
also is it possible to leave the pistons in the block so i dont have to worry about filing/sizing the piston rings and reseating them?

its been done but the best mate would be a 2.2 block with the 2.5 heads giving it a nice CR drop and ready for turboing. shame your gonna drop the idea. Well if you pull the pins and crack the block open you might be able to do it. But someone with more block work knowledge should chime in. I'm currently doing a 2.2 N/A build up sending out the heads tomorrow. Not alot of power but I enjoy my uberslow.

haha well after researching i just found it would be easier and less wiring and such to worry about if i just stick iwht my stock block, plus i can get it running on just an apexi safc and an a/f ratio gsuge until i collect all the turbo parts

most of the wiring has to do with your intake manifold. so you can use a wrx block thats one of the newer 2.5's with your heads. Also if moneys tight run a thicker HG from Cometic on the stock motor. This would hold maybe 9psi with a very good tune. Just remember the apexi safc doesn't control timing so the ecu is still gonna run some very advanced timing. Once I'm done doing my bit of motor work I'm looking into piggybacking a Megasquirt and running my own coil packs so I can control timing but still have OBDII to pass new jersey's strict emissions.

well my stock block with wrx rods and crank will drop the compression ratio enough to turbo it, i will be running stock subaru headgaskets with arp headstuds so i dont have to worry bout that
