09 WRXs spinning bearings, whats the deal?

Does anyone here know what the deal is with all these 09 wrxs spinning bearings in the engine? Is it some design flaw, or is it just ppl beating the piss out of them too quickly or something. My friend is seriously looking to buy one, and hes concerned about this.

Honestly? No idea.

Some chalk it up to a bad batch of bearings... other batch it up to PCV valve... others chalk it up to contaminants in the oil.

If the engine does blow, SOA replaces it at no charge. If I had the dough, I'd get a lightning red wrx - they are pure sex. I wouldn't worry about it too much to be honest. It doesn't seem to be happening as much as people make it to be.

A couple LGTs have gone down too.

SOA seems to be taking care of it with no problems. I know one guy got his entire Spec B replaced.

thats cause they're building them in indiana now instead of Japan, if you compare imprezas/foresters up to 2007 to Legacies the Legacies are all rust buckets but the imprezas and foresters are still in great shape. I dunno what were doing wrong but someone needs to look it over.

Yeah, I think you're onto something there. There has definitely been cost cutting on the cars too and I wonder if suppliers were changed for engine componentry to save some cost, leading to these issues.

Hey, whats a goin' on on this side?

Between the WRX board I BS on and the LGT board I annoy, there seems to not be too many issues with the new cars. Yes, there are a couple but everyone knows anytime a new bodystyle or engine debuts, there's always a few that tank.

If it had 2.0 but still had the same power you wouldn't have known the difference though.

sure i would, the beauty of the 2.5 is its instant spool and midrange torque.

Keep in mind, I used to own DSMs and had a Mustang. A 2 liter turbo is nice, but I really appreciated the powerband of the larger displacement Stang. The 2.5l with the stage 2 protune on the stock turbo has so little lag that it feels like a much bigger engine than it really is, which for me, is what I really prefer over a powerplant thats deadly up top but around town or out of turns will bog down if you aren't in the right rpm. it's just my preference to have a wide powerband, and that always boils down to displacement.
