Helppp..Nasty noise and feeling in clutch pedal
OK... i need some help...Washed the car and took it for a quick ride and got on it pretty good in 1st and the tires broke loose so i let off, push the clutch in to shift into second , put the shifter in second and as i am letting of there is a horrific spline agaisnt spline (grinding) in the clutch pedal (while in the process of engaging the clutch) . Once my foot is completely off the car runs and shifts fine, but every time i try to engage the clutch i get a that horrible grinding and spline on spline feeling. The actual shifting feels find not notchy at all.. I drained trans and transfer case fluid, No metal or particles or pieces Pulled the axels. good shape Pulled the transfer case... everything is good to go about to pull trans now... any ideas???? Someone said maybe the throwout bearing is seized?? __________________

Is it a 'grabby' engagement or still smooth, but noisy?

SOunds like you broke your clutch disc, but it is very tough to tell without experiencing it in person. Where are you located?

+2 for clutch disk, although one big problem with the sprung discs is that the can fragment or their springs can seemingly jump out of the disk without notice causing problems like the ones you are experiencing. Another thing, though highly unlikely because of the newness of your whip, could be the clutch fork. I know I change mine out every time I do a clutch job on the TSi because I run an ACT 2600, but my car is also almost 20 yrs old, but it's something to think about.
Kudos for doing all the footwork before coming on to pick our brains, too; there's something to be said about that. Good luck, and make sure to report your findings, and your results, back so that we this is searchable in the future.

I dont know much about this to be honest, but, from my understanding, short shifters or short throw shifters can cause issues if it isnt installed correctly. you didnt mention anything about that, but have you installed one as of late? I hope its just you clutch and not your tranny. Good luck with the findings!

pull the acces cover on the bottom and look for debris! Also look into the hole where the fork goes in at the top, just look for anythng out of the ordinary

The clutch fork will move freely when it's "popped out"

been there done that.. Came back the next day and got it in 15 min...IF worse comes to worst you can remove the pressure plate and pull everything out through the access hole..

Yea, you're going to find your problem in the clutch. It's either the throw out bearing or the pressure plate teeth/disc springs. Usually if it's just noise, it's the TOB. If the peddle is softer, its the teeth, and if engagement is wierd and jumpy, it's the springs. I personally refuse to use an ACT PP.
