Sitting in traffic - Things start turning off.

So Today on my wonderful commute to work. I was sitting in traffic for about 15 minutes, and noticed my ABS light came on? it would go off when i rev'd the engine a bit to crawl forward. Since i was now concerned about that I noticed my dash lights would go out as well as the stereo. I swiftly crept my way to the shoulder thinking my car was about to die. But once i was moving again everything came back to life.

So I ask. Alternator or battery?

Anyone have an alternator for an 02 WRX? are they hard to replace? it doesn't seem like it?

But I am sure the exhaust is angled for back pressure to have a faster spool-up for larger size turbochargers @ low RPM

Suprised a battery light dident come on? may want to check for grounds and connections as a last step before doing the alt change. Possible the battery light and abs/lights take diff grounding paths?

just don't buy the alternators from auto zone, etc. i've had a few mechanics tell me that they have a high fail rate out of the box, haha.

Oh trust me, I've went through that on other cars. I would rather put a used oem on than an autozone alternator.

I agree on the alternator too...however... i had a similar issue once... it actually ended up being the battery. What happened in that case was, internally the battery developed a short. It was the crappy stock battery, so big surprise right? Swapped in a new one and problem solved... just to throw that out there. Using a voltmeter on the terminals while cranking it will tell you if thats the case though.
