Anyone have an idea how I could get a blood donation letter?

Long story short, my professor gave us the option for extra credit if we donate blood. Well, I have AIDS. No not really, but my iron level was at 12.3 and to donate I need to be around 12.5. I tried on two different occaisions and followed the instructions on how to get my iron up, and was denied twice. I not only wanted to help out by donating, but I also wanted the extra credit. Basically, does anyone know where I could get a letter saying I donated blood with some kind of signature or something? lol

He won't accept the letters of denial? Hey you at least tried, shouldn't that count for something?

tell your professor thats racist or something, just because you physically cant, you cannot get extra credit? tahts like saying clap your hands and you get extra credit, and you have a person with one hand in your class.

you know why you can't get your Iron up? maybe check with a doctor?

The blood bank thing wouldn't give me any documentation that I tried at all. I was soo ****ing pissed and got pricked twice and everything, only to find out my iron levels were too low. I told her it would be low because I don't eat red meat and the only source of iron I really get is broccoli. lol

Agreed. Theres really nothing you can do at the time if your iron is low.

I don't remembe her exact reasons but probably because my family as is already has low iron levels (anemia I think it's called) not to mention my diet doesn't have any red meat in it, etc.

If I ate like a steak before I went to give blood, would I get it up by .2? lol I need this by tomorrow, it's worth 6 extra points on my final grade!

then get some supplement pill, like centrum or something :P

its found in red meat, fish, poultry, lentils, beans, leaf vegetables, tofu, chickpeas, black-eyed peas, fortified bread, and fortified breakfast cereals.

Iron is overrated, I don't need it.

As Ryan said above, you should try an Iron supplement...many good multi-vitamins have it included, and being that your family has a history of anemia you should be taking it anyway...I'm like you I don't eat red meat either, so I supplement what I'm not getting as a result.
