Regardless of what others may say, this is still the cleanest J-body I have seen. I don't think I've seen a Cavalier I like as much.

I have been debating wether or not I want to go with a turbo setup on it or not. While it won't make a bunch of power, it's more than what the car has now. Plus at car shows it's always some added eye candy too.

Honestly dude...not to be a downer but, I think that would be a huge waste of money. I used to have a '00 Cavalier and when I got into the car scene more, I sold it and bought something different. I don't think I would go that far with that car. The money you would have to put into that 2.2L to make it reliable would be more than it's worth. On top of that, the amount of money you'd spend isn't worth the small power gains you would see. If you want to get into boosting, I would buy a different platform. Just my $.02.

there are people actually putting down 300WHP and staying together. I'm not one that beats on my car. I had thought about doing a eco swap, but for the same price I could do the turbo, keep the reliability and not have to worry about it. I was looking into the Hahn kit which is a complete bolt on setup and utilizes a mitsu 15G turbine.

I think the kit can be had for $3000, They claim the stage II puts out 180 HP and 210 Tq on 8lbs of boost. But thats only using a afpr, no actual engine tuning. So I have a feeling that alot more power can be had from a dyno tune.
From hahns website stage II Kit Includes: Super 15G Turbocharger, manifold, intake and piping, fuel system, oiling system, blow off valve, front mount intercooler (core dimensions 24”x6.5”x4.5”) with integral return chamber, intercooler piping, all installation hardware, gaskets, couplers and clamps. |

I say do whatever you want to do. However, if you wanted my opinion I would definately skip this whole idea. $3000 to squeeze out 180hp is definately not worth it. Especially when you can buy a nice stock car with the same starting horse power. Like I said, it's your call. I feel like this has been discussed before. Did you post about this in another thread in the past?

I might have possibly. I honestly don't remember. I am just trying to do something different if ya know what I mean. This was my first actual car and all, I would rather mess with this thats got pretty much all the exterior and suspension done, then start over with a new payment, and new car and all.

If you were absolutely going to take this route, then I would DEFINATELY pick up an Ecotec and build it, then swap into your car and boost it. You'll have WAY more reliable power with way more aftermarket support etc. I know it's more money, but it's kind of in between buying a different car (which you've stated you clearly don't want to do) and boosting the existing motor.

Yeah true, I know what you mean. It just sucks with the eco swap, while it's not too bad to do just motor, trans, ecu, mounts, harness. So while it's not to bad and I could run the cobalt blower. It will still be a pain.

That's what I would do. The swap could be done in a long weekend. Way better than 8 lbs. boost pushing 180 hp.
