Mac Book Pro Owners - questions about quality

I'm looking to make the move over to mac. But have been reading about some of the quality control issues with the mac book pro's. I realize the computer it self should perform great, but i've read about a yellowish tint across the bottom of the screens, dings and dents on the laptop it self right out of the box, smudges on the screen under the glass, the screen lid not closing properly.

I want to know if anyone has a MBP that has any of these build issues? and if they do what build number was it. ie. MB133LL/A or MB466LL/A etc etc...

Thanks.

I have an older one I bought back in December of '07. Not sure of the build number, but I've had no issues so far.

My father is an electrical engineer and on the side he is a starving Mac tech/consultant. I say starving because the god dam things almost never break and if they do they are covered under warranty by just throwing the machine in your car and driving to an Apple store.

My girlfriend has had a Macbook for her last 2 years of college, she abused the dam thing in every way imaginable and even though it shows the scars and dents of being treated like that, it still works perfectly.

I bought my Macbook Pro in May and it is solid as a rock. No blemishes or screen issues. I am actually trying to sell it so PM me if you are interested.

I wouldnt worry about it being damaged upon arrival. I'm sure if you went into a mac store they would open it up and let you look at it before you took it home. You can also opt for the 3 year extended warranty. You havent experienced REAL support until you've delt with Apple support.

well i'm not too too worried about their support. but i am worried about the yellowish tint i hear about across the bottom of the screens. supposedly it's been resolved when they switched to using lg screens.
I'm looking to purchase a MB133LL/A which isn't the newest mac book pro out there. so i was just hoping to see if these problems existed on that model or if that one is clear.

I've had mine since August and it's been flawless. Admittedly not a long time, but I commute with it every day, never turn it off (just close the lid which puts it to sleep), run at least 5 or 6 programs at all times (most of which are heavy/eat resources), etc. I've never heard of the yellowish tint, either.

FWIW, some of the blogs are reporting that people have had issues with the new (and very cool) glass trackpad not registering clicks sometimes. If that's worked out I'd say you have nothing to worry about. Plus, you'll be the coolest guy around for like 2 months until Mac comes out with something cooler than the new ones.

I've had my MBP since July. I love it, and the one I have now has been flawless.

However, I am on my 2nd one. The first one, the case was warped slightly. Took it back and exchanged it, no issues.

Just check it over before you leave the store.

Hold off on buying the new MBP until they get the touchpad sorted out! There are many problems with them now (since they lack a click button, you just tap the pad) where half of the time the tap function stops working, as well as when you put your hand onto the pad to move, it thinks you are clicking. There have also been reports of people having their pads break from light drops and bumps. I would hold off until they address that issue!

I'm glad I got the last-gen, personally.

I like having a button to click and hold when doing things in PS and AI.
