Car to make the transition from auto to manual with?
It was suggested to me to look at a Honda Civic, some kind of Nissan, and an Acura Integra. What do you suggest?

I don't understand why it's hard to spell manual either.
I just don't want to screw anything up, jeebus. I'd rather have a car I don't have to put myself into financial instability over to learn rather than make a stupid mistake or roll back into someone on a hill and be paying out the ass for it.

Just find something cheap, get it, drive it, and if you want, sell it after you learn...or ask Jacki to learn on her car ;)

Same here.
And to the OP... easiest way to learn the basics of driving a standard is to find someone w/ a beater, and ask them to teach you. I did this with my old Cavalier a couple of times, and to this day, those people are driving standard, or at least can do so if needed.

98-02 LS1 Camaro. No seriously, I used to just let the clutch out at idle and it would pull away for me.
![]() But for real I vote Civic, they're cheap and easy to come by and they're not too hard to learn on.
