So, then, it affects your memory.

You failed to state whether it positively or negatively affects the memory. You stated: "...affects the memory...or does it?"

This would imply that it either affects the memory or it doesn't. If it promote growth, then it affects the memory positively. If it promotes decay of areas in the brain, then it affects the memory negatively. If it does nothing but get you high and you can still remember everything going on, then it doesn't affect the memory at all, but if you forget what goes on, IE: time travel, then it affects the memory negatively.

So which are you trying to prove here?

"Marijuana effects the memory" is a quote from teh movie Half Baked which is why I chose the title. It definately effects short term memory LOSS but according to this new study promotes new nueron growth which is totally unrelated. Then there is the heightened sense of creativeness which may somehow tie into the nueron activity. More studies are sure to follow.

This study showed a surge in growth of new neurons when the test animals where injected with a chemical about 4-6 times more potent than the amount of THC typically found in pot. While this may lead to more findings, I would have to say that marijuana does effect your short term memory...though I suppose we'll all know in a few hours when the people who smoke up a lot forget about replying to this thread.

This was also tested on lab rats not humans so I think we are very far away from seeing THC pills marketed for memory enhancement.
