I got pulled over for two things. One being my registration light was out. Ok no biggie, didnt kno, I will get it fixed. Second one was because my exhaust. The cop was a cool guy. But he told me that you cant have any type of aftermarket exhaust on your car unless you have a silencer. MOnths ago I heard about they were trying to pass a law just like this. ANybody kno whats the deal?

Chapter 45
Subchapter B §4523(D) - Unauthorized modification of equipment

No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor vehicle above the maximum levels...

§ 157.11. Vehicular noise limits

The highest decibel level a vehicle under 6000lbs can be is 84dB and it is measured at a distance of 50 feet and above 35mph.

If your car is way to loud its not a surprise why you would get pulled over, but it is a violation so if you have an exhaust but its not all that loud its still a reason to stop and have a chat the officer might find something else out in the process.

EDIT: This is the PA code, it might not be the same for neighboring states
