So my hard drive crashed....next laptop?!?

Well after 5 years, my Dell Inspiron 5100 finally crashed.

So what to get next. Loved my Dell and will go back and get another if they will allow me to re-install XP over Vista. Will save a lot in software since I already have all the Office Software for XP. And my work does not carry Vista so it would work out better for me.

I also need to do monthly payments like I did with my old laptop. Any other recommendations? HP and so forth. Other places to buy with financing?

Well clearly he needs this for a business application where they use XP, so getting a Mac would make no sense at all. And he is asking about financing it, so i doubt he is about to shell ou extra for the Mac name either. There are plenty of less expensive solutions that are as good as or better than a Mac right now.

Keep an eye on this site until you see something you like! http://www.notebookreview.com/deals/

I wasn't aware you couldn't run MS Office on a Mac, fooey.

Guess the MS Office that I'm running is a fraud?

Unless of course he means another type of software for an office lol

I am assuming he is talking about an Offic (like work office) package which includes Outlook which will not work on a Mac...There is no difference between a Mac and a PC anymore. Anything you can do on your Mac, I can do on a PC or Linux. That being said, with VM ware, you can run any PC software on a Mac. You are paying for the look/name, you can't argue that.

But you can run that OS on a PC now.

Yea, me too. Leopard ****s all over Vista.

Not to mention I had numerous problems with Dell and Dell's service, whereas with Mac it's been nothing but great.

And btw, Macmall.com has very good deals.

So? I have decent power in my little macbook, and it doesn't sound like a harrier like most laptops.

I'm a huge HP fan. I've bought 3 HP's and never had a problem. I would def. recommend them. I currently have an IBM (well lenovo) and if i wouldn't have gotten the extended warrantee, i'd would have already put thousands back into it. The motherboard has failed 3 times on me, the harddrive once, and the screen once. Never getting another, needless to say.

No building involved. You can do it on any off the shelf PC or Laptop. All you need is EFi-X (http://www.efi-x.com/index.php?optio...nguage=english).

There is also an illegal install called OSx86 or Kalyway.

Basically, you can't go wrong with almost any laptop you buy these days. Pick your price range and then go hit Laptop Reviews for reviews of lots of laptops (of all types) in your price range.
