i just saw this on yahoo. apparently when you sign up you will pay the price of what a gallon is now all the time even if the price goes up. so say it is $3.99 in your area right now, then gas goes up to $4.50, by signing up you will always pay $3.99 with this card.

here is the article:
http://biz.yahoo.com/usnews/080702/0...ices.html?.v=1

here is their website:
http://mygallons.com/

what do you guys think?

Can someone summarize? I just skimmed through everything and don't understand how it works. Is this something that they bill for monthly? IE...you use the card and rack up $200 in gas purchases and you get a $200 bill?

apparently it seems that they buy stock in the oil companies and it benefits the members to pay lower gas prices. thats kinda what i got out if it. like by them buying stock and us being their members we kinda have stock in the companies. im not really sure just spit balling.

Ok...so I just read more through it. The only question I have is...if I signed up and my "price" was $3.99 a gallon, does it STAY @ $3.99 a gallon forever?

If I'm understanding it correctly, if it gets lower you receive credits back.

If legislation against speculators passes (i'm not up to date on it's status), we could see much lower prices. Apparently at one point, someone thought it was a good idea for the people who speculate (thus the ones who help determine the price) to be the same people who own the majority shares in oil co.

hmmm, seems simple, interesting, and worth it.... but at the same time, there has to be SOMETHING wrong with how it works.

So there's legislation in the works to curb this speculation bull****?

pretty much, but there is a monthly membership fee like at costcos... in the long run, is it really worth it?

they said its just one annual fee of $29.95 or something. but i guess its just like a credit card that you pay at the end of the month for the gas you buy but youll get your gas cheaper. but like you said is it really worth it now since most gas station are going to start being 10 cents cheaper if you pay with cash. there is one buy me that i go to all the time.

you prepay for gas, most fleet companies do this. say i sign up and put 200 gallons on my card @ 3.99.. i go to the pump and get gas it subtracts the gallons from my card. my gas will be 3.99 for all 200 gallons. each time you buy for gallons for your card there is a 1.95 fee, plus the 29.95 yearly fee.

now for the downside

the owner filed for bankruptcy in 2001 in ohio. he currently does not have a contract with anyone to process the transactions (until he does the card is useless) the BBB gave his company a F rating. he has no expierence in this type of buisness but does own 3 other buissness' (ones in upper darby pa)

sorry for grammer/spelling/formatting
