Spec- the problem is mine has a lockout, and from your av, I don't think yours does? I was pissed b/c I loved the Nismo knob I had in the Zed. Oh well

Jon- I may get in touch with him. I basically want the knob I had in the Z, just fitting the Spec V.

IIRC all specs have lockouts....i actually never really thought much about it to know 100% since i bought my car with the shift knob on there already, most guys on myspec have aftermarket shift knobs...so once your a member you can double check there.

intake and exhaust/ header are a great combo on our cars...most guys will immediately do a header in order to get rid of their precats. I don't have a header with my exhaust because i think it just makes it sound way too raspy...and ricey, but with just a catback it has a nice deep sound to it.

we have a problem with the first precat, its positioned to close to motor and sometimes burns up breaks up and during periods of exhaust sucking in, the pieces of the precat get sucked into the motor and the motor gets deadz...so you should check to make sure the motor has been replaced under the recall.

intakes def add a great sound to the catback i have....when it hits 5k rpm and the secondaries open up (our vtec) it sounds very good until the 6250redline...

as for tuning, there is no ecu "chip" yet out for our car.....most guys will tune with a SAFC or some kind of AFC.....and its a necessity when guys go boost because of the lack of ecu tuning.

Wait...secondaries?

I have a powertrain warranty, hopefully it'll be covered. Is it illegal to remove the precat?

the secondaries work basically the same way vtec works....except our car has over 100hp before they kick in...lol...alot of car companies use the vtec idea in their own cars vvti in toyotas, cvtc in nissans, mivec in mitsus, i believe they all work the same way...

i think its illegal to remove the precat...not sure since i havent yet...im still under warranty as well so im kinda hoping for another new motor before my warranty is up in a few years..

not on all of them, but enough of them that it was recalled by nissan and acknowledged as a problem.....some guys have 120k on the stock motor without problems and some guys have 20k and need a new motor....its all how you treat the car....i believe theres a big difference between driving hard and beating the **** out of your car....

also make sure they recalled the ECM its just a reflash of the ecu nissan needs to do...should take 15 mins.

i use 87 in mine, its not turbod or that high performance of a car so im not too worried about the little bit more performance i could get using 91 or 93....

Ok. So no pings or anything? I'll put in 89 and see what happens lol

When I go to return the GTO's wing, I'll ask about the recall and the ecu and ****.
