Cell Phone Question in Regards to travelling internationally

Heading to Ireland thursday for about a month or longer to visit some fam and stuff. I have a cell phone through at&t (formally cingular) Its the sync Samsung sgh-a707 I checked at&t's site and really couldnt find anything helpfull on it. I messaged them but last time I did that it was about a week before I got a response, was wondering if anyone knew if my phone would still work when I am over there. Not planning on calling anyone because I'm sure that would fall into roaming if my phone did work, just planning on using text's cause I have unlimited with my plan. Any help would be great.
Thanks
Steve

I am pretty sure texting would be charged if done internationally. I know when I went to Russia a few summers ago, my phone did work but it was roaming.

I am not exactly sure how the texting part would work, but I am pretty sure your phone service should still work. I have unlimited texting and would like to text to Canada but I don't want to get charged for it.

I thought you had to have a certain type of service in order to have coverage internationally. I'm sure you can just call a local store or at+t directly and ask them, you should be able to get your response right then and there.

I'll probably stop by a at&t tomorrow because trying to get an actual person on the phone from calling at&t service is a pain in the ass.

AT&T sucks as far as getting a correct answer from them (even with a corporate account with 1000 lines).

Anway,

Use this:

http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/in...al-roaming.jsp

Select Ireland, and then click "details". It looks like you will be paying about $0.50 per txt. Your unlimited plan only covers the U.S.

You should also call AT&T customer care and make sure you have the pay-per-use international (with texting).

if i were to be in ur shoes, i would unlock your phone, AT&T charges like 15-20 bucks for it, and get a prepaid service in ireland.
