Apparently Cannon builds in alot of the hardware necesary for higher end peatures even into their point and shoots. But they turn off the features through software. Of course people end up finding out and have been hacking them to turn on the features. Things like, Time lapse, RAW shooting mode, and live RGB histograms. Anyways heres the link that explains it.
