Rock Climbing

Anyone into indoor rock climbing? I'm gonna try it out in the near future. Just wondering if anyone has some input for a first timer.

Find the right shoe. Some sort of cross trainer. flat bottom strong toe. We had a rock wall in school thats where i learned.the arch of a running shoe is no good.

i did try it on a rock face at high rocks and it was pretty sick, kinda scary if u dont trust the person on the other end with the rope, its definetly a workout though, i would like to try it in a gym also

Go in pairs, preferably with someone who has done it before. And make sure you find someone who works there who will show you the knots a couple times, just so you don't forget.
+1 on the shoes as well. Find your most well-worn sneakers if you're not renting climbing shoes (renting is highly recommended though), that way you can get a decent feel of the grips.
Don't try to climb all with your arms. Use your legs or you'll be dusted in a half hour. And if you go to a place with ground up tires as the bedding on the floor, you'll be sneezing black stuff for an entire day.
You just made me realize how long its been since I have gone rock climbing. I need to get back into it. Where are you looking to do it at? North Summit Climbing Gym in Wind Gap is my favorite place to go.

I assume you are going to North Summit Climbing Gym?? I've been there twice and both times I went I had a blast but you are pretty much screwed if you don't have upper body strength.

Yeah I'll be going to North Summit. Its a mere 15 minutes from my house and on the way home from work.

Martang, we'll have to get together and go down some time.
