subaru's mostly have the same style engine so a sti engine will fall right into place. The wiring is a different story needs to be wired and such. But I know the vendor on here does swaps on subaru's (area 1320) they should chime in and give you more detail. As for the tranny yea it'll mate up to an auto but it just wouldn't be as fun ^_^..

^^ said it perfect

Yes the engine will fit.Not without modifications however. You would need the turbo crossmember however and turbo swaybar.

the a/t trans will work, but it will not be able to take the power. Here is the kicker. You wont be able to run the STi stuff on an auto car without some serious ECU trickery.. Since the STi never came auto, your trans computer will get pissed off at not seeing an ECU to talk to.

Sooooooo... count an STi swap out unless you want to go M/T

An auto WRX swap would be much more feasable being they came in auto.

on a tight budget I would suggest the following

1- Header
2- exhaust
3- crank pulley
4- cams
5- intake
6- nitrous
