so i ran the mustang last night

so i went to the track lastnight, not planning on running but a couple friends talked me in to it, my first pass on a completely stock 5.0 was a 14.9 i kinda bogged at the line, second pass was a 14.8 at 98 mph i didnt hook at all, just wanted to see wat it was gunna do be for nd after my mods, goin back in 2 weeks after i do my upper and lower intake, nd some gears in the rear, hopen a low 14 high 13 but we will see

whats your timing set at?? bump it up to 14degrees and run 93. when you lunch dont dump the clutch just slip it out from 2200. you'll hit 13s no problem if you do it right.

Thats about right for a stock 5.0. Mine went 14.7 spinning all of first.

that's not bad for a 5.0... just remember... those were rated for under 200hp. Which was why the Omni GLH-S ate them for breakfast lunch and dinner ;)

Smog laws really restricted engines in the 70's and 80's and we didn't have the technology then to let these engines breath the way they should, while keep the exhaust "quality" from being so poor.

my 85 omni glh (carbed) probably would have run 17's if it made it down the track lol

I never ran it... but the later year turbo'd omni's were mid/high 14 second cars. and since they were turbo charged and intercooled from the factory, it took very very little to get them moving quicker. With some minor work they were known to hassle stock Grand Nationals

so your saying you raced those mustangs on the street??? i thought you didn't street race??

Not street prepped yet, it had been involved in a fire last season, took out the front end. So after rewiring, rebuilding, and finding body pieces...lol it will be out in about 2 months.
