just got promoted

thats right i was just informed that i will become one of the three team leaders at my shop. i've been working at my volvo dealership for five and a half years. and considering i am half the age of the rest of the techs(22) its a great honor. with the extra responsibility of fixing trouble cars and helping the other techs on my team i will probably be making 18-20 dollars an hour, which is sweet because i average 70 hours a week flat-rate. thanks for listening to my rant, i am just so excited.

i currently have 4 of 8 ASE's. will be going for the rest now that i got promoted, even though they have almost nothing to do with volvo. and regarding to pay, i've learned that every place is different. if you're just out of school with no experience in a shop you can expect to make around 10 an hour. before this promotion i was at 16 an hour. i consider myself lucky in a way. i started at my dealer about 5 years ago while i was still in highschool through a co op program at my tech school, at a whopping 7.50 an hour. and now im number 3 in the shop. but i busted my ass to get here. im a fast learner, retain knowledge well, and am very good with computers.

yea I go to BCTHS and saposably those of us who keep our grades up might get internships to dealers, and then co-op next year. Do you have to take the stupid SP2 test on safety every year?

what is the sp2 test? once a year we have to listen to someone from OSHA during lunch and take a test that an eight year old could pass.

Its the new OSHA test, its like 10 30+ question tests about everything, what to do with oil, what not to do, what to do if this happens blah blah blah, It takes liek a day to do if you sit thier and read it all, most of it is easy some is stuff I'll never worry about

i don't know if we'll have to do that. all of the guys in my shop hate meetings and such because when were not in the shop we're not making any money.
